BARCELONA CLARINET PLAYERS & PAQUITO D'RIVERA

Following the line of promoting the creation of new works for clarinet quartet, Barcelona Clarinet Players presents a new recording project with works by the clarinetist, saxophonist and composer Paquito D’Rivera.

This renowned artist has composed for Barcelona Clarinet Players "Fantasías Barcelónicas", a work inspired by the city of Barcelona and various illustrious personalities related to this, such as Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Tete Montoliu and Antoni Gaudí.

Additionally, this album will include six adaptations for clarinet quartet that the Cuban musician has made exclusively for them, such as "The Elephant and the Clown", "A Farewell Mambo", "Wapango", "Cuban Sharks", "Kites over Havana", and the renowned "La Fleur de Cayenne".

Innovation, fusion, interdisciplinarity and pedagogics are some of the concepts that best define the creative path of this ensemble. Their performances are known by their meticulous chamber work and a curated and energetic staging.

Due to its versatility and diversity of its projects, they have been invited to participate in numerous international festivals performing in such prominent venues as L‘Auditori de Barcelona, el Palau de la Música de Valencia, ADDA Alicante, Sala 400 Madrid, Murchison Performing Arts Center or Meyerson Symphony Center, and in countries like Austria, France, Belgium or Mexico.

BCP have appeared as soloists with Lone Star Wind Orchestra, North Texas Wind Symphony, Banda Municipal de Palma, Banda Municipal de Bilbao, Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Banda Sinfónica de las Américas or OJC Orchestra under Eugene Corporon, Tim Reynish, José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana, Luís Serrano or Óscar Navarro among others.

BCP have recorded various albums and they are working on this special album with chamber music from the great Paquito D’Rivera.

Calendar.

The recording process will be during this year 2021. The rewards will be delivered once the CD production process is completed, estimated for the first half of 2022.
