      Whatch the presentation video in english.

      We present a CD of the txistu player Garikoitz Mendizabal with The Bratislava Symphony Orchestra.

      Orchestrated by Emmanuel Martin and Pierre Wekstei, with two new compositions by Xabier Zabala. Conducted by Enrique Ugarte.

      This initiative will help to open up further possibilities for the presence of the txistu in orchestral repertoires, with its own singular and diverse range. The txistu, an indigenous instrument of the Basque Country which has developed in a remarkable way over the last 30 years, performs for the first time as a solo instrument with an orchestra.

        El Gobierno Vasco ha aportado 10.000 € al proyecto. Para la grabación la diptutación, nada. Y el proyecto al final tiene un presupuesto de 32.000 €.

      Se trata de una grabación entre el txistulari Garikoitz Mendizabal y la Orquesta Sinfónica de Bratislava. Es la primera vez que el txistu (instrumento autóctono del País Vasco) tiene posibilidad de tocar como solista delante de una orquesta. Los arreglos son de Pierre Wekstein y Emmanuel Martín. También hay dos composiciones nuevas de Xabier Zabala.

      El director de la orquesta ha sido Enrique Ugarte.

      La finalidad es que el txistu pueda tener una puerta abierta desde ahora como solista en el repertorio orquestal.
