20th birthday of the Orquestra Simfònica Segle XXI

The Orchestra

The Orquestra Simfònica Segle XXI is a symphony orchestra international course aimed at gathering instrumentalist of high level of ability and all ages who wish to further their musical knowledge, creating a unique opportunity for those who are still students of playing side by side with professional musicians.

The orchestra has its roots in Catalunya, but in the last few years the gatherings have been held in Godella (Valencia). Moreover, it has always brought together musicians from all regions South of the Pyrenees and from abroad alike, including participants from Germany, Netherlands, France, Israel, England and Italy. Always under the baton and guidance of Jordi Mora, a conductor widely experienced both in orchestra conducting and in the pedagogic field. He is also a scholar of phenomenology of music & sound.

With this year’s course we will celebrate 20 years since the start of the orchestra. We want to have our celebration coming back to Catalunya and interpreting 9th Beethoven Symphony. There will be a concert at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona on July 9th and another one at the Atlántida in Vic on 13th July 2019. We need your help to achieve this!

Manuscript signed by Jordi Mora: As a souvenir of your collaboration we want to offer a photocopy of the first page of 9th Beethoven Symphony, framed and signed by Jordi Mora.

Watching rearsals: You will be able to enjoy one or all of our rehearsals to prepare Beethoven’s 9th and in that way become our companion in this process full of enthusiasm. Rehearsals will be held at Centro Cívico de Sant Oleguer, in Sabadell.

Attending rehearsals sitting in a section: We offer the opportunity of enjoying one of our rehearsals sitting within the Violin I, Violin II, Violas or Violoncelli section, for a fully immersive experience. Rehearsals will be held at Centro Cívico de Sant Oleguer, in Sabadell.

Invitations to the concert: Depending on the amount of your contribution –highly valuable in any case-, you will obtain between 1 and 8 free tickets for the closing concert at the Palau de la Música, Barcelona.

Who we are

We are an orchestra constituted by musicians of high level and all ages working in depth on the symphonic repertoire.

The core group at work to organise Segle XXI is formed by some of the musicians who are part of the orchestra itself: Miquel Felip, Marta Urzaiz, Diego Miguel-Urzanqui and Jordi Mora, our conductor / artistic director

How we will use your contributions.

To undertake the project of preparing and performing Beethoven’s 9th, we need your support. We will allocate your contributions to cover the artist fees for the soloists and choir members required to perform this symphony.

Dates

The orchestral course of Orquestra Simfònica Segle XXI will take place between July 3rd and 9th 2019, when the assigned rewards will be obtained: the opportunity to watch our rehearsals (Cívico Sant Oleguer, Sabadell) and free tickets to our concert on 9th of July at the Palau de la Música (Barcelona).
