«Towards Bruce Lee's Tomb», a film by Canódromo Abandonado

In the past, we made videos about leisure of the claustrophobic and uncomfortable sort. Now we want to fly to Seattle to make the first Spanish *Bruceploitation*: a film with problematic humor, zen terror and martial arts without blows.

Help! We're Canódromo Abandonado and over the past year we have been making videos and staging interventions in Madrid. In August we're going to take the bull by the horns, so to speak, and head to Washington to make the first Spanish Bruceploitation: a film with problematic humor, zen terror and martial arts without blows.

THE PLOT

It begins when a pathologically enthusiastic couple, with a weak spot for wine, decides to fly to Seattle to realize their dreams: she dreams of strengthening her leadership abilities in an exclusive corporate coaching seminar, Body Language Empowerment in One Week, while he dreams of getting as close as humanly possible to the tomb of the greatest fighter of all times. Upon arrival in Seattle, a sagacious mobster teaches them that it takes more than just a map to find Bruce's tomb, and something more than just a body to master the art of interpersonal communication. Will their relationship survive the mobster's grueling training? Will they be able to channel their enthusiasm towards a common dream? Seattle is a puzzle: will they find a frame pretty enough to hang it on the wall when it's all over?

ABOUT US

We are Lorena Iglesias, Aaron Rux y Julián Génisson. Before we met we did theatre, stand-up comedy, and made music. A little over a year ago we decided to combine our savoir-faire and favorite textures in an articulated and deformable being called Canódromo Abandonado (Abandoned Dogtrack in English). We make videos about cognitive deterioration, domestic economy, and pixelated children. Stated as a Manifesto: we unearth our dreams with shoehorns and implant them into Italian psycho-sexual thrillers in which the characters express themselves in corporate speak and call pretty much anything "Hollywood". This is the Abandoned Dogtrack: the Internet of the poor.

The time has arrived to take this spirit and put it to work in a more ambitious format. Recently, Spain has witnessed a surge of independent filmmakers who have demonstrated that you can make great films on a shoe-string budget. El señor by Juan Cavestany and Diamond Flash by Carlos Vermut are two examples that have particularly inspired us. We've been fortunate to have met and collaborated with people who share this low-cost philosophy, people like Carlos Vermut, Manuel Bartual, Pablo Hernando and Miguel Noguera, who lent his talents for the film's teaser. While these people are unknown in the US, we think it's important to include them here because it shows that there is a strong community of individuals who are willing to share their resources and talents so that others can realize their projects.

These relationships and your support make this project possible. We invite you to take a look at our videos and collaborate. You can find us on the web at Vimeo and YouTube and follow us on Twitter and Tumblr.

WHAT'S IN STORE FOR US?

Our idea is to shoot the film during the month of August. We plan for a week of finding locations and casting extras, and three weeks of filming. We will split our time between Spokane (our primary location consisting of an airstream camper near an indian reservation) and Seattle (that's where Bruce Lee is buried). Between September and November we will complete all the post-production in Madrid. Ideally, the film will be available on-line by the end of 2012.
