N̶E̶G̶OCIO will be an exhibition on art and game in the exhibition hall of the University of Barcelona based on the doctoral thesis of Alba García Martínez, will collect some of the most internationally known works of game as a means of social and critical communication.
Organized by young talents from the art world with the support of the University of Barcelona.
N̶E̶G̶OCIO will gather works belonging to world-class artists. The famous White Chess Set by the Japanese artist Yoko Ono, the irreverent and well-known Train by Brenda Romero, the surprising game Ladrillazo by Alejandro Pérez and Paco Fernández or the shocking September 12th of Newsgaming.com join the various works of names such as Joan Priego, Anne-Marie Schleiner, Natalia Carminati, Richard Hofmeier or Abel Barroso.
The objective of this exhibition? Offer a varied and deep journey through an artistic style with a very critical spirit, and that does more than show itself to whoever contemplates it. A collection of works of art that call the viewer and make him participate, be part of the work itself to delve into that social, economic, political, but above all cultural criticism.
The exhibited works are joined by performances and workshops that will take place outside the venue. In the previous exhibition of N̶E̶G̶OCIO Italian artist Laura Malinverni offered one of her daring Critical Creation workshops, while you could enjoyed the performances of artists of the level of Ian Bogost and Jane McGonigal.
The exhibition will be held in the exhibition hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona. The purpose of this is to bring the exhibition of N̶E̶G̶OCIO and its artists closer to the students of the University of Barcelona, and since public universities do not have enough money to be able to develop this type of exhibition, we have to use crowdfunding. The entrance to the exhibition will be totally free.
What we offer you in exchange for your collaboration
All our patrons will receive their personal invitation to the opening in Barcelona, where the rewards will be delivered. If you live far away or it is impossible for you to come ... Do not panic! We promise to send you the reward without additional expenses.
From the rewards we want to highlight that you can find an original work of limited edition of 100 editions, Neo-Dixit, which was created as a production work in the current exhibition of N̶E̶G̶OCIO at the Cultural Center Las Cigarreras of Alicante (in which it won the public call of Buit Blanc).
Neo-Dixit is a version of the Dixit board game where the illustrations of the cards correspond to acts and situations that occur on a daily basis but that seem fantasy and surreal. Things that we would never have been able to imagine but which, nevertheless, are happening today due to all the neo-liberal policies that prevail in our society.
You can also get posters of your favorite Neo-Dixit cards. You can find all the cards HERE
You can also order the catalog and the t-shirt of the exhibition.
