Lea is a short movie that was born as a final degree project of 4 audiovisual communication students; joint now by a small team of friends and colleagues from the audiovisual world. All of whom share a special bond with the island of Formentera.
How did it start?
The project comes from our need as young people to tell a story that shows the building and construction of a false happiness; one that allow us to "Be Ok" for a limited period of time. But sooner or later this falls apart, shows its true colors. With this, one has to accept that not everything will always be okay, that to feel sad, down or lost is just a natural human state.
On the other hand, is our way of giving back and thank the island of Formentera for everything it has brought to each one of us (in a personal a even spiritual way).
¿How? Showing other sides of the island that are not usually shown or known but they are also part of the reality. Providing a special island charm.
Also, by giving voice to those people who are loyal to the island the whole year (not only during warm and shiny summer), because thanks to them we've got to know this true, real, "not so beautiful" Formentera.
Synopsis
It's been a year since the last time she was in the island. Lea flyes back to the island of Formentera to work another season, this time by herself. At the beginning everything reminds her of Valeria, her ex-girlfriend. For a few days she builds her own artificial happiness, pretending she is doing great and enjoying the magical island; that she is okay and happy.
Lea tries to fulfill the emptiness Valeria has left in her life by doing activities that one has to do to feel happy. She goes all over the island trying to scape from her reality through nature and wilderness.
Lea lives with Dana, her yoga instructor, who goes to her with a request: to work hand in hand with the locals to create a children's theatre play.
Bit by bit, and focused on the children's theatre project, Lea forgets she has to be Ok, and the memory of her ex-girlfriend starts fading out. During those days she'll come across with two peculiar characters from the island that will show her the authentic and inner Formentera (a whole new world).
She will discover new ways of be with no need to overthink, she'll have to learn to go with the flow and to be honest with her feelings (deal with what you feel).
Characters
LEA (22 years old)
Is extroverted and always wants to be happy and cheerful.
Is very independent and her home and family situation have brought her to be even more. She is apparently fearless and has a great future ahead of her, or at least that's what everyone is expecting, since everything seems to always work out perfectly for Lea; But not this time, now she is down and sad.
Unfamiliar with this emotions and feeling, she rejects them and shields herself in that artificial and false happiness.
She will have to learn accepting her feeling, whatever they are, and forget her self-imposed rule of having to be happy.
DANA
Yoga instructor with whom Lea lives. Dana is one of those who has lived many things and to the fullest and now she has found peace in a simple and calm life. She is intuitive, observant and often helps and guides people just by being who she is.
+ Characters
Friends of Lea, Clara, the farmer, parents living in the island, Blue Bar workmates...
All of them will take part in Lea's life and journey. With them we'll discover new and unknown sides of Formentera.

ABOUT THE REWARDS
Within the next 40 days, we'll share on our social media accounts and the Verkami Blog, pictures and details of the rewards and material you'll get with each contribution. From the illustrations and designs of the tote bags to teasers of the Original Soundtrack.
WHERE WILL THE FUNDS GO
With the funds we obtain from this campaign, we will cover all the costs of the shooting itself. Shooting a movie implies many costs that include material, transportation and travel costs, housing and renting fees for the duration of the shoting, food and subsistance costs, etc.
Since the shooting will take place in the island of Formentera; a big part of the budget will go to travel costs and fees (we are from Barcelona, (Spain) and going to the locations in Formentera means taking plane + ferry).
In the crew we'll have a professional sound director and sound operator in order to obtain a high quality sound design and recordings; that will need another big part of the budget.
A small part will be used in the production and delivery of all the amazing rewards for the contributors.
And finally, producing a movie implies paying fees, permissions (filming in certain places, rights...) and commissions.
ABOUT US
We are Júlia, Carla, Marina and Sandra, Audiovisual Communication students and this is our final degree project. The four of us together with the help of an amazing small crew, want to tell de story in LEA, a short movie about learning to love yourself, selfesteem, the acceptance of our own feelings and emotions ("this is what you feel, now deal with it") and the connection of humans with nature. Showing unknown sides and perspectives of this island.
JÚLIA, "Post-it girl". Always carrying notebooks and pens (cutie color ones). She loves to write, draw, write things down and make lists of everything; but then she's unable to remember or find anything. Thanks to her we visualize in colors (Pantone).
CARLA, "The spiritual". She believes she lives in a world of colorful butterflies, and anything can be fixed with an "Ohmmmm". With her we have to put up smalls fights in order not to do things too beautiful, perfect, dreamy/cheesy and idyllic.
Thanks to her, love will be present anytime.
MARINA, "Chatty girl". Once she start talking no one can't stop her, but just because she seeks for the "why?" of everything.
Thanks to her we won't lose our minds.
SANDRA, "The Stressed out girl". She can't stand still more than 5 seconds and when she gets into an endless loop, don't you dare take her out of it (especially if she is hungry).
Thanks to her we'll have all the food and material we need.
SCHEDULE AND CALENDAR
The shooting will entirely take place in the island of Formentera (Spain) throughout April and March (end of April, beginning of March).
The shooting will last two weeks, two intense weeks of a lot of work, sleeping very little and many more satisfactions.
The sound and soundtrack editing and post-production will take place throughout May and June.
We intend to have the film ready for a premiere by the end of June. And if everything goes as scheduled, it will be ready for all of you by summer.
As for your rewards, we'll start delivering by the end of June. So you can all enjoy them on your summer holidays.
