The Tear of Prince Hamlet

The Story

Astor is a 45 years old actor that has not had much luck. He works on whatever he can to maintain the dream of performing theatre. He is not alone, together with Ana, the directress, and a group of Friends, neighborhood vocational actors, they decide to play Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

They rehearse at an old Italian theatre at La Boca mythic neighborhood. In the middle of the rehearsals a conflict came up. They find out that the theatre will be sold to a supermarket and they won’t be able to make their debut. They decide to talk with the theatre owner and in this atmosphere of peculiar crosses between the actors and their characters, we will see them trying to fulfill their dream.

When I wrote the script I was talking about people that do different jobs so in their spare time can do their truly desire. It’s a story where dreaming is part of the reality. Each character in the movie has different jobs to survive but holds ignited the desire of performing a Theatre Play. What drives this people to take part of their time to do something that will not give them money and only a minor recognition? I never realized that I was writing the own story of the group that is making the movie. Although it is not the life of anyone of us, we are not so far. I will like to thanks to the whole group and to all the friends that maintain alive our wishes of doing films.

About us

We are a group of artists that covers the main creative departments of the movie making world (direction, script, photography, edition) together with actors that have different careers in movies, theatre, TV and performance arts.

We are a cooperative group. All our team has accepted to work without getting a salary, risking as part of the project. If we didn’t work like this, it would be impossible to make this movie being a small size producer. That’s why we are so grateful to the ones that join us in this challenge.

How we will allocate your contributions

We know we are asking for an important amount of money. But although "La Lágrima del Príncipe Hamlet" is a low budget movie, it doesn’t mean we don’t want it to be well cared. We need a minimum capital so the final product results with the quality we want.

Up to this day we have been financing for one year rehearsals, costumes and scenography, with our money and organizing small events. But to be able to shoot and reach a good technical level we should rent 4K equipment in order to compete in worldwide festivals.

Our Budget is divided in the following percentages:
• 70% Rent Camara, Lens, Dron, Sound
• 12% Rent Heavy equipment
• 10% Rent Locations
• 8% Transfers, Catering, Communications, hard disks, Office

We have not included the post production in the budget as we will do the edition and the sound is already included in the budget.

Planned Schedule

Our Production Schedule is already set with locations, actors and technicians.

The shooting will be done in two weeks, between the first week of November and the second of December plus 5 days of the dron in the middle of them.

The Post production, image and sound edition, will start in January in order to have the movie ready at the end of February, so we can show it in film festivals. From that moment we will start to reward the Maecenas, we are talking March 2018.
