What is Reforest-Action?
This project has been created as a response to the fire that burned 8500 hectares of Sierra in August 2015. During the month of October 2016 we worked ceaselessly restoring the burned areas.
More than 700 people were involved and 413 volunteers from 14 different countries made this initiative possible. The result was 500 free pine acres and 250 reforested with 25.000 trees of native species.
And this year we continue with the campaign "100 days of reforest-action", which will start the 20th of October and will take place untill the end of January.
REFOREST-ACTION is a collaborative movement based on the action. We work by connecting wills and creating nets, dynamyzing territories through commitment. And with the vision of creating a global responsible culture able to take care and protect the Native Forests.
All this have been possible thanks to the work of Gata-Hurdes Association and the collaboration of Villasbuenas de Gata's council, Extremadura's council and the effort of thousands of volunteers and collaborators who have done their bit to help.
We have created an expression to define the feeling of satistaction that the fact that something is alive thanks to your effort transmits.
The " lovescence " is the fluid that keeps Reforest-Acción alive. Our aim is to Sow Conscience in the fertile mind of society, inviting everybody to the noble task of Planting Trees.
When restoring the forests, we do not just recover the Natural Harmony of the territories, but we also restore the human consciousness, connecting ourselves with the Earth and recovering the Memory of Life.
How your contribution will help
We are looking for the citizen collaboration to continue with the progress. We have estimated we could plant 50.000 trees and 200.000 chesnuts and acorns.
Scheduled Calendar
The reforestation will take place in autumn, coinciding with the season when plants have more opportunity to survive.
First volunteers are arriving the 20th of October. It will be when we would be able to show you the fruits of your contribution.
