What is VDF - Valencia Dancing Forward?

VDF-Valencia Dancing Forward is non-profit organisation that aims to promote dance, education and social integration at European level, through two lines of action:

• A scholarship program for 12 dancers, selected from among the best European schools.

• Awareness workshops for people at risk of social exclusion, and schools.

Scholarships Valencia Dancing Forward.

VDF will convert Valencia into a reference in dance.VDF will give a scholarship to 12 young dancers, the best graduates of leading European and Valencian schools. During 3 months (1 September – 4 December) VDF will be a bridge between education and working life. Each year the Association will choose the 12 dancers who will form as professionals.These will dance in professional settings in Valencia Community, and will perform works by renowned and emerging choreographers.

Valencia city will have the opportunity to become closer and increase access to dance. Scholarship dancers may expand curriculum, exchange experiences and will need financial assistance. With Valencia Dancing Forward they can grow, strengthen their self-esteem and know the value of start in the independent life of the dancer.

One of us

It is a public awareness-raising workshop that it is aimed to different groups away from the dance, such schools and groups at risk of social exclusion.

There will be daily or weekly workshops with the aim to develop the critical capacity of the individual. All of them will be taught simple,initial and basic steps and concepts in order to create a dance piece. After the workshop they will get an opportunity to present the learnt choreography on stage.

Who are we?

Behind Valencia Dancing Forward we are three professional dancers with strong mission to recover, preserve and impart dance

Elizabeth Taberner. Valencia. Soloist of the Ballet Generalitat Valenciana . Formed in Conservatorio Professional de Danza de Valencia, continues her training in the Compañía Nacional de Danza 2 and the Teatro Alla Scala in Milan. Graduate in classical dance pedagogy and a master's degree in Cultural Management (UOC).

Joan Crespo. Valencia. Freelance dancer. Formed in the C.P.M. dance of Ribarroja del Turia and the ESDC Rosella Hightower. He has danced in Introdans (NL), Ballet Generalitat Valenciana, Europe Danse (FR), Dance Works Rotterdam (NL)... In 2004 he is awarded at the Monaco Dance Forum, as "Best young promise" and in 2010 it is nominated in the list of "Top 100 outstanding dancers" by Dance Europe magazine.

Laura Bruña. Madrid. She is a graduate of Royal Conservatory professional of dance in Madrid. Soloist dancer in companies such English National Ballet and Stuttgart Ballet. Currently soloist dancer of Ballet of the Generalitat Valenciana. In 2003 semifinalist at the Prix de Lausanne, in 2008 she was nominated for the Spotlight Award (Classical Female) at British National Dance Awards.

Destination of the contribution

In the association we never stop working and searching ways to raise the money needed to carry out this project. This was possible thanks to a diversity of events such as the Inauguración Gala organized January 10, in the Espai La Rambleta at Valencia, awareness workshops in la Mostra escènica de La Pobla de Vallbona,in schools as of the CEIP Vicent Ricard i Bonillo(Benetusser), and Easter workshop for dancers that professional dancers Laura Bruña and Diana Huertas taught. These events have helped us raise a portion of the budget needed to cover:

• Residence of 12 dancers

• Rent artistic residence

• Salary, teachers,rehearsal director and technical team

• Travel expenses to shows

• Costume

• Copyright( music)

• Social security rights and 12 dancers scholarship

• Rental management and advisory expenses

The Verkami campaign will help us to support the rent of rehearsal Studios and accomodation of the 12 dancers (two flats during three months).
