Freektion Festival 2016

Freektion is a music and performing amateur arts festival organized by various cultural agents of Valencia. It will take place on May 13th , 14th and 15th in a cozy corner of the Sierra de Enguera province of Valencia, called La Casa del Balcon, surrounded by fields and forest.

The aim is to organize a different - free festival through associative and cooperative approaches, by involving both the artist and the public and workers of the construction and develop of the festival itself.

We propose the realization of this free festival as a connector between different artists, styles and disciplines; and as a platform to show the status of the current amateur scene.

Activities

The activities are the main contents of the festival and the demonstration of a large substrate that feeds amateur contemporary cultural scene. During the festival the following activities will be held:

Live music concerts

DJ sessions

Theater plays

Workshops and lectures

Circus, dance and other disciplines

Recreational activities for children and adults (storytelling, puppets, etc.)

Projection of documentaries and films

*The festival features parking area, camping, dry toilets and showers.

Under these premises, the festival aims to develop a number of major goals:

-To promote amateur artistic culture and "Free Festivals"

-Serve as a meeting and exchange between workers, artists and public

-Develop cooperative and horizontal methods of working

-Build and develop a sustainable and respectful festival with nature

-Promoting free entertainment, free and responsible consumption

-To serve as a platform for local crafts

-Promote knowledge of the region and its natural surroundings

About us

In Friktion, technicians, artists and organisers do not work for money, we work for giving us the opportunity to create together something different within our cultural landscape.

We are people from different areas, from artistic to associative management. Therefore, we are open to different types of collaborations (artists, craftsmen, volunteers ...) and create networks.

Your contributions

Project funding is needed to continue the restoration of the space of the festival and to cover all those points where it is necessary to make a prior investment.

The funding received will be used for the following purposes:

Building / rehabilitation materials (200 €)

Energy and transfers (150 €)

Food and Drink (100 €)

The first option is a recycled wood table made by the craftsman workshop Sloowood (up to 4 tables)

We also offer a game called Mancala. Similar to chess but with shells or pebbles. It comes from Indonesia and is played by moving the tabs clockwise. Simple in theory, but tricky; and very addictive... Made in palmwood by Slowood workshop.

Schedule

The festival is scheduled for the weekend between 13th and 15th May 2016. We distribute the rewards during the event, although many of them may be collected in the days before or after the festival at the point of delivery.
