A typewriter. Papers on the floor. Alcohol leftovers. The study is tatty, dirty.
Decadence and frustration. Lack of inspiration . Marc cannot write, his muse is gone. Barbara could be it. She could be his muse. She could make the pulse of writing beat. Or not, she could also not be it.
Marc is a writer who cannot write. An enshrined, prestigious writer. Barbara is an absorbing young girl. A curious and intelligent young woman. Marc has to write a book and he is not able to, his words get lost amidst rum and suffering. Marc meets Barbara and together they begin a relationship that seems to guide Marc back towards the majestic path of writing. But not all roads are paved, not all tracks are stable.
“numen.” is the story of Marc and Barbara. Of Barbara and Marc. Also the book that has to be written, Barbara’s curiosity, Marc’s arrogance... the story of the latent ambiguity in every single pore of their skin. A story about inspiration and literature, about lies and the limits of reality. A love story. Or not love, but lovelessness. Numen, because inspiration moves through the most beautiful and dismal paths of the human soul.
Synopsis
Marc, a renowned writer, can not find the inspiration to write his new novel, which should have been published weeks ago. In a bar he meets Barbara, a young admirer with whom he ends up sleeping and starting a sentimental relationship. A relationship that brings the novelist back to the field of inspiration. But the writer's ego will not be able to stand so much curiosity from Barbara. Who, infatuated, will try to decipher how to confront the difficult art of writing.
Discomfort oozes from every single pore of their skin, unleashing a series of events which verge the limits between reality and imagination.
Why support this project and us?
"numen." is the first short film in Dolby ATMOS sound in Spain.
Because we are to produce our final year project, we've decided to take this excellent opportunity to open the doors of the professional film industry, dedicating all our effort and passion to reach this goal.
Why is it special? Apart from passionate work being noticeable, this short film stands out by providing the audience with a sensory experience the public is not used to perceiving. It's about a miscellany of love and discomfort, of encounter as well as search, fantasy hand in hand with fear and an ending that won't leave you indifferent.
