“Let’s start a new band where there are absolutely no rules”, said Raúl Bastida (Barcelona, Spain.) and Alberto Álvarez (Essen, Germany), both emigré residents of Berlin, Germany. They have met not long ago by pure accident (very probably not by accident) And this they have, the product of their musical mind-meld, is still an infant at this stage, still learning to focus its gaze and use its hands. But its mission and its message are clear, crystal clear: The old methods, the old structures no longer apply. The slate is clean, the playing field is level, the game is on and the rules will be made up as they go along, only to be discarded again when they in turn no longer apply. VIOLENTA are recording their self produced debut album‘Consejos benignos profundamente equivocados’ at Klangbild-Studios in Berlin right now and its planned to be out in February 2012. The primary musical components are sweat, tube amplifiers, deep convictions, weird noises, instinct, irony, irreverence, risk, rainy-gray melancholy, plug-ins, humor and sex, melody-dissonance-volume, blistered hands and blistered hearts. WHAT DO WE WANT AND WHAT DO WE OFFER IN RETURN?

We want to allocate your financial donation to financing the expenses of the recording and release of our debut record. In return, we offer different rewards depending on the amount of your donation. You can choose to make a donation between 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 80, 120, 300 and 600 Euros (Please consult the rewards we offer for each of these amounts on the column on the right side). We want to smash the distance that separates the artist and the audience. We believe this dialogue is indispensable. We much prefer to be indebted to you, those who help us to carry this project forward, than to a credit company. We want to avoid this kind of financial burden and we want to make sure the exchange is absolutely fair. You help us cover the costs of the recording and production of the record through your donations and we reward you with what we’ve got, in other words CDs and/or vinyl (we will press a unique set of 300 vinyl copies… not one more and never, ever again!). We are not a company, so we can’t offer more than this, but we promise to do it in the most transparent way possible.

WHAT IS MICRO-PATRONAGE (“CROWDFUNDING”) ON VERKAMI?

Verkami facilitates what’s known as micro-patronage, a system of project funding through individual or collective contributions, eliminating the distance between artists and their audiences. In these times of financial crisis, the option of crowdfunding and micro-patronage proves that there is an alternative way of financing cultural endeavors that is far removed from major companies and big business. That’s why we’ve chosen to go this way. This platform reflects our changing world and the enduring values of working methods that are simpler and more people-oriented.

WHY ARE WE ASKING FOR A MINIMUM TOTAL OF 2850 € FROM ALL THE DONATIONS?

The recording in the studio, the mastering, the pressing and the production of the CDs and vinyl are expensive. You might think to yourself, “Why don’t you just go to a record company? They would take care of all this, right?” The answer is simple. Record companies have always exploited the musician, and with things how they are today, it’s gotten even worse. We are not willing to accept exploitative contracts, outrageous percentages, crazy obligations, transfer rights, exclusives in management, etc. At this point in time, doing this ourselves seems to be the best option. This way we have all the control over our work and we don’t have to hand it over to music speculators. We will use the 2850 Euros to keep from going even more into debt. This money will be used to finish the recordings, the mastering and the production of CDs and 300 unique vinyl releases. A part will be used to pay for shipment of your reward and to cover the commissions of Verkami (5% of the total amount obtained) and the finance company (more or less 1.4% of each donation). If we exceed this sum, the surplus money will be used to recover part of the investment we made for the recording and to promote the record.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON’T GET THE PLANNED SUM?

We will have to look for other ways to finance the record and no money would be collected from any of the donations and consequently no rewards would be given.
