VHS was born in the ‘Escola de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya’ (ESCAC) during the television fiction class. After two years of working on the series, the project was selected by the school to shoot a pilot episode.
WOULD YOU KEEP YOUR JOB SECRET FROM YOUR FAMILY?
VHS is a drama series that combines two very distant worlds: family and porn.
These two seemingly opposite worlds come together in the character of Max Sandrei. He was a porn star twenty years ago but had to quit when he married. When Max, many years later, got fired from the insurance agency where he had worked, he had the chance to return to his old profession. To do so, however, he needs to hide it from his family. Max does not want to sacrifice any of the two things that give meaning to his life: family and porn.
There are three important women in Max's life: his wife, Carla, his daughter, Bea, and his movie partner and friend, Silvia. Each of them brings out a different feature of Max. The three characters are complex, with their own needs and desires. Carla is a strong defender of the family life, whereas Silvia is attracted by Max’s wildest side. Bea is a typical teenager who constantly looks for a confrontation with her father… to the extreme of entering the same hidden professional world.

HOW IS A PORN ACTOR DRESSED UP?
VHS proposes controversial and conflicting situations which one can identify him or herself with. VHS brings situations to the extreme and generates dilemmas to the viewers: would you really accept that your children freely choose their dream job? What would you be willing to sacrifice for love?
The series explores a world barely approached by television fiction to date. It attracts the audience with the promise of satisfying their curiosity. At the same time it brings up situations that are more universal than expected in advance.
Seen from the point of view of two different generations, VHS deals with love and hate, joy and jealousy, ambition and conformity, conventions and taboos.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL TURN VHS INTO A REALITY!
We have prepared a script for a 40 minutes pilot episode, which implies a 15-day shoot with an estimated team of 20 people. With the script and equipment in hand, and a great dose of enthusiasm, we only miss your help to carry out this exciting project.
By being a patron of the project you contribute to:
The rental of the shooting, photography and electrical equipment
The rental and purchase of the art and costume supplies
The rent of the locations where the scenes will take place
Car rentals and payment of the transportation of material and equipment
Food for the technical and artistic team during 15 days
VHS originated in October 2011. In September 2013, ESCAC gave the green light to shoot a pilot. A month later the pre-production of the project started. If we get the revenue, the shooting of the pilot will be conducted in mid-February. Once the pilot has gone through an editing and post-production stage, the delivery of rewards will take place (expected in summer).
