LET’S PLUG ESPACIO OCULTO

Espacio Oculto is a coworking centre dedicated to artists and other creative professions that aims to facilitate the necessary means, fundamentally the space, to produce their work.

Located in the neighbourhood of Usera, very close to Matadero, Espacio Oculto offers artists the necessary resources to develop their office work, currently essential, as well as their manual labour, in an attempt to promote collaboration and comradeship in an environment that will facilitate synergies and creative processes.

However, it is essential to obtain the last investments needed for the electrical installation, A/C system and furniture that will provide our co-workers with the optimal conditions for working.

Besides being a co-working and a meeting spot, Espacio Oculto, grants an ideal spot to teach and share knowledge, give presentations, roundtables and exhibitions. Espacio Oculto aims to invigorate and strengthen the cultural life in the neighbourhood and in the city, in collaboration with other emerging projects.

Espacio Oculto is a project from the association Arte Oculto I+D that develops projects designed to restore and extend arts and culture since 2012. In May 2013, after several months of work, we launched the virtual platform Arte Oculto Madrid, a website for visual artists and cultural spaces that registers an increasing amount of users everyday. Moreover, it has also taken part in important cultural events as a media partner, such as the art fair ArtMadrid13, or the independent event SeAlquila Mercado.

When given the opportunity of switching from virtual to real, the team of Arte Oculto I+D didn’t hesitate in undertaking this new project with the rehabilitation of a 270 square metres old aluminium storehouse.

After several months of work, in September 2013, we celebrated the opening event of Espacio Oculto. On this occasion we organized a Multidisciplinary and Collaborative Exhibition. The event was very successful and was able to show the multi-purpose possibilities of Espacio Oculto premises.

• Improvements in the finishing touches.

Most of the contributions will be assigned to pay for the total cost of an electrical installation and a heating, ventilating and air conditioning system that will provide an optimal environment for our coworkers. We will also use part of the income to buy furniture and improve the finishing touch of the premises.

PLANNING

Once the crowdfunding campaign has concluded, and if we achieve our goal, the works for the electrical installation will start. Later on, we will proceed with the heating, ventilating and air conditioning system installation in December.

From 2014 on, we will start distributing the rewards to everyone who helped us in the crowdfunding campaign.
