THE PROJECT
FORGET is an independent short film written and directed by Rafael Lorran, produced by Pandequeso Films. It is born from the drive to tell, without fear, a story about memory, love, and everything we stop living because of prejudice.
We want to bring to the screen a beautiful and powerful message, that real love asks no permission. With your help, we will have the chance to make and produce this short film, and to bring it to festivals and get points.
SYNOPSIS
When the family's financial difficulties force Elis to take care of her grandmother, Vera, she returns to the town where part of her story began.
Marked by years of distance and by wounds never resolved, the two find in the progression of Alzheimer's and in the tenderness of caregiving an opportunity to live what memory never allowed.
But while some memories disappear, others are only waiting for the right moment to return.
Some loves and experiences stop being lived because of patterns, patriarchies, and social barriers.
What if we lost our memory in order to truly live the reality of things? To love without barriers.
ART AND CINEMATOGRAPHY (references)
FORGET's cinematography is dense and delicate, with visible grain and oblique natural light. Warm tones inhabit the past, and warm tones inhabit the present.
The shoot will take place between Barcelona and rural inland Catalonia. The palette follows that duality: between past and future.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
"I wrote FORGET thinking about everyone who, at some point, had to stop living something, a love, an identity, a truth, out of fear of what family, faith or society might think. I asked myself: what if we lost our memory in order to, at last, live the reality of things?"
This film is born from that question. Vera and Elis share a past marked by distance and by wounds that never fully closed. But forgetting, something we normally fear, becomes here a second chance: the chance to love without the barriers that once seemed impossible to cross.
