FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE LA GAITA - VILLAVICIOSA 2026
Once again, Villaviciosa will become the heart of folk music from September 3rd to 6th, thanks to the FIG, an event that celebrates the richness of our musical tradition, our culture, and, most of all, our way of living.
Imagine being able to take home a piece of that identity, the spirit of the festival and the sense of belonging that the FIG represents.
Thanks to the designs made by Nieves González (Nievesita), our T-shirt, tote bag, and the rest of our merchandise are filled with love and soul, making them feel like something truly yours.
Although you can purchase almost all of our merchandise separately, T-shirts and tote bags, we recommend getting the FIG Pack for a complete experience. It includes: the T-shirt, tote bag, reusable cup, pin, sticker, and the official poster of the XIX edition.

Thanks to all the support you gave us last year, this year we're taking things even further with a lineup and some very special guests. Among them is Bagad Kemper, who will make their first ever appearance at a festival in Asturias during the 19th edition of the FIG.
WHO ARE WE AND WHAT DO WE DO?
We are the Banda Gaites Villaviciosa - El Gaitero, founded in 1986. Throughout its 40 years of history (surely that's something worth celebrating, isn't it?), the band has brought Asturian music and culture to every corner of Asturias, many parts of Spain, and several countries across the American continent, helping to promote Asturian folk culture internationally.
For the past 20 years, we have been organizing the FIG (International Bagpipe Festival) thanks to the dedication of the band members, volunteers, and the support of local businesses and restaurants and bars, and cider producers from the municipality of Villaviciosa.
Thanks to everyone's efforts, the FIG has become an event that people look forward to experiencing again year after year, and one of the municipality's leading tourist attractions during the summer. Every year, it continues to gain recognition within the folk music scene across the Iberian Peninsula and beyond.
WHY A CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN?
For years, the FIG has been a landmark event for Asturian culture and a platform for the music, traditions, culture, and celebrations that fill the streets of La Villa every September.
In 2026, we want the festival to keep growing, to feel more alive than ever, and, once again, to touch the hearts of everyone who believes that culture brings people together. But we also know these are challenging times. Production costs have continued to rise, and we want to keep supporting a festival model that is free, inclusive, and built around high-quality programming, without giving up what makes it truly unique.
That's why, thanks to the incredible support we received last year, we're launching this crowdfunding campaign once again. Because we believe culture belongs to everyone, and with a small contribution from those who believe in the festival, we can once again bring the streets of La Villa to life as they deserve. By taking part in this campaign, you don't just support the festival, you become part of it.
The FIG is designed as a living stage to showcase an entire cultural universe centred around our iconic instrument: the bagpipe. A totem, a symbol of identity, and a faithful companion throughout our history, the bagpipe connects cultures across Europe and stands as one of the greatest symbols of Asturian culture.
Over the past few years, we have opened the festival to every artistic and cultural expression connected to this instrument: top-level national and international musicians, artisans, luthiers, educational and historical talks, competitions, book and research presentations, traditional Asturian singing (tonada), Nueche en Danza, dance workshops from Asturias and other parts of Europe, a cider festival, artisans specialising in traditional Asturian clothing... In short, an entire world of culture with a heart that beats to the sound of the bagpipe.
The festival will feature a cultural programme including concerts, talks, exhibitions, Nueche en Danza, the bagpipe band festival, Nueche Folk, a craft market, Asturias' only gathering of bagpipe makers and luthiers, traditional singing competition, solo bagpiper contest... and much more!
All funds raised will be used to develop and improve the festival.
