ABOUT THIS BOOK
Dreams of Patagonia: Around the World in Eighty Days is not merely a chronological account of exploits with a beginning and an end, nor is it a travel book or a guide for adventurers. It is a book about life, brimming with fulfilled dreams, miles of wonder, and marvelous ways of experiencing the world on two wheels. It is about what I have seen, what I have lived through, and what I have dreamed while crossing this planet. It is an honest attempt to share what drove me to make things happen, even when all seemed lost.

A journey, like life itself or embarking on a new project or daring to make a profound change, is made up of the same elements: fears, hopes, doubts, and vertigo. There is also that inexplicable joy that arises every time one dares to go a little further because moving forward is the only way to rediscover oneself.
I have been walking this path since the beginning of my consciousness because, without those memories and experiences, the journey would certainly be incomplete. I took that part of my life out into the world with the curious gaze of a child and the contemplative calm of an adult.
THE AIM OF THE BOOK
The aim of this book is to share what I call "crossing the threshold"—the experience of taking that first, most important step toward a more authentic present. The adventure is powerful because it is all about reality. This book doesn't expect you to travel around the world. After all, a round-the-world journey is the accumulation of small daily steps. It's almost irrelevant compared to becoming aware of our limited time. What matters is achieving what one wishes to do at the precise moment.
That is why I decided to write this book. If, as you read it, you feel an irresistible urge to revive a project you've tucked away in the back of your mind and dare to bring it to life, then I will know I have fulfilled my purpose.

The narrative shifts between two time frames: the present, which is my round-the-world journey, and the past, which is the memories that sustain me. The adult gazing at Vladivostok and the child who learned to dream on two wheels in Patagonia are interwoven with a thousand anecdotes and parallel thoughts. I allow myself to be awestruck by the world, its history, its people, its flavors, its myriad paths, and the sea, which compels me to pause.
These are reflections born of travel and the questions that arise when time slows down, almost defying the laws of physics. This book is about pausing. It's about finding a shore, like that of the sea, from which to look back and understand what has been learned.
