Debut Album - Mia Lardner

Hi, I’m Mia Lardner, and I’m creating my debut album.

Music has always been the way I’ve made sense of myself and the world around me. Before songwriting became my safe place, I grew up through musical theatre—learning how to tell stories through emotion, movement, vulnerability, and voice. Theatre taught me how to step into different characters, but over time, music became the place where I could finally step fully into myself.

I come from an American family, but I was born and raised in Barcelona. Growing up between cultures, languages, and identities deeply shaped the person I am today. I’ve always existed somewhere in between—between English and Spanish, between different versions of home, between who I was expected to be and who I truly am. For a long time, I didn’t completely understand that part of myself. But music helped me begin to understand it.

My last EP, ES, was the beginning of that journey. It was more than a collection of songs—it was an exploration of identity, belonging, memory, and emotion. Through ES, I started discovering what my voice really sounds like when I stop trying to fit into one place, one language, or one version of myself. That project helped define me not only as an artist, but also as a person. It gave me permission to embrace my duality, my sensitivity, and the complexity of where I come from.

This new album is a continuation of that process, but on a much deeper level.

It’s an album about reconnecting with my inner child. About looking back at the girl who grew up feeling divided between cultures and learning to hold her with compassion instead of confusion. It’s about understanding my roots, my emotions, and the experiences that shaped me—and transforming them into something honest and human through music.

The songs will move between Spanish and English naturally, because that is how I think, feel, and live. I don’t want to separate those parts of myself anymore. This album exists in that in-between space, and I believe many people will relate to that feeling in their own way.

Sonically, this project will be intimate, emotional, cinematic, and deeply personal. Every song is being created with intention and care, with the hope that people can see parts of themselves reflected in it too. I want this album to feel like a conversation—raw, vulnerable, and real.

To bring this project to life, I’m raising €4,000. This funding will help cover recording sessions, production, mixing, mastering, visual content, and all the independent work that goes into creating an album from the heart. As an independent artist, every contribution truly makes a difference and allows me to continue creating freely and honestly.
