Fils

is an experimental audiovisual project that will be divided in three parts:

· Interviews with real stories
· An experimental video montage
· A magazine with symbolic pictures

This project aims to combine video essay, video art, and poetic documentary, with an approximate duration of between 5 and 10 minutes.

Through a series of artistic, metaphorical, and sensory images, accompanied by music and voice-overs, the project explores the intimate experiences of different women throughout their lives.

Based on real testimonials, it addresses topics organized according to different stages of life, such as self-esteem, menstruation, mental health, harassment, abuse, motherhood, generational misogyny, etc.

Pain, sensitivity, and the female experience are represented through experimental visual techniques: textures, fragmented editing, superimpositions, and symbolism.

The project constructs a collective portrait in which the personal becomes common, using the metaphor of the red thread as a symbol of connection between women.

Fils seeks to answer the questions:

What does it mean to be a woman? What connects us?

The idea

The idea of the creation of the project Fils comes from day-to-day experiencies for being a woman. We felt the need of reivindicating in a different way what is to be a woman, to be able to explain it and represent it with visual and metaphoric ways.

Showing that being a woman has its negative things that have to change, but also showing that not everything is bad. Showing that the connection between us is stronger for sharing our fears, goals, empathy and love.

▸ The team

We are a group of young students from different disciplines in the audiovisual sector who want to create this project as part of our studies at the Barcelona School of Audiovisual Media (EMAV).

With the help of EMAV, we want to create a project that is a visual and auditory portrait of the invisible connections between women and convey a thoughtful and emotional message to the viewer.
