Welcome to this new path. Before we introduce ourselves, we want to invite you into it… Music has the power to become a vessel that guides journeys in search of a new destination. Our journey weaves melodies that long to see the earth as a home that discriminates against no one, a home that becomes a warm embrace for everyone. It pains us to see the vast distance that has been created between us, leading us to view one another as enemies, falling time and again into that which divides us. It pains us that it is so easy to find flaws and excuses to pull apart based on the differences that clothe us, instead of seeing in them the beauty and richness of the world. It pains us that the value of a piece of land turned into fool's gold, or the value of holding onto an idea, are deemed greater than life itself. But, all around us, there are also flowers blooming through the cracks in the asphalt, warm hands reaching out to help even when they have little to give, and sweet, steady voices that care, love, and protect, far beyond the turmoil of hatred. That is the flame we want to kindle; that is the path we want to build. Our tool is music.

In this album, we want to reflect that longing for home and hope. The possibility of weaving paths that lead us toward different ways of being in this world, which is beautiful. There are people who have achieved this at different moments in history and in various corners of the world, both in the social and spiritual realms. They have shown us, and continue to show us, that it is possible—that we can all do it.

We want to honor those differences that lead us to learn from one another with respect, and which have created diverse ways of being in the world—ways that can complement each other and always show us what unites us.

or this reason, we wanted to unite the two distinct universes of our compositions, each adding our own touch to the other's inspiration. Joining sounds from our cultures and others we have had the honor of learning from, through instruments, rhythms, and languages. We wanted to blend sweetness, hope, strength, longing, and joy through different colors—at times with a cinematic style, at times more acoustic, sometimes more percussive, and sometimes softer and simpler… also adding some improvisations that were born in special moments.

The instruments you will primarily hear are the piano, the lute, the kora, the quenas, and world percussions, among others. Spanish will be the main language, but it will also mingle with Asturian, English, Arabic, Chinese, Quechua, Farsi, Mandinka, and Irish Gaelic. We have also been joined by performances from musicians and singers who are adding a truly beautiful touch.

We are Nerea Mafarki and Bruno Travi, lovers of music and fusion, and dreamers of a better world. Thank you for making it this far and joining us on this musical path. You can contribute by choosing one of the rewards offered on this page in advance, by making a voluntary contribution, and/or by sharing this with anyone you feel might enjoy it.

We send you a warm embrace. You can find more information by scrolling down.

What do we need the budget for?

  • Covering the costs of the time dedicated to recording, arranging, mixing, and mastering in the studio.

  • Copies of the physical albums + cover art design + shipping.

  • Intellectual Property registration (something very important to ensure no one can steal our original creations!).

  • Lyric Video.

  • Advertising and promotion (something very necessary in this day and age to ensure the music achieves a certain reach).

When will everything be ready?

The project is already underway; we’ve been able to get a head start on recording, the demos are ready, and we are currently in the phase of developing the instrumental arrangements and finishing the remaining recordings. While the crowdfunding campaign is active, we will also be organizing the rewards so that in the month of March they can finally see the light of day and reach your hands and/or ears (and hopefully, your hearts). We will be sharing updates here and on social media.

For the impatient ones…

We share with you the compositions that make up this album, along with what they symbolize for us.

1 SOMOS (We Are)

This song reminds us that we are all part of the same root.

2 NACIMIENTO (Birth)

A search, recognizing one's own roots, feeling part of something, and at the same time daring to venture into the world, connecting with strength and also with innocence.

3 MEMORIAS DEL ALMA (Memories of The Soul)

It evokes stories of the past and the present, where the pain of war and crisis has led to the loss of loved ones, and how sometimes, the union of those nearby—whether neighbors or people previously distant—is forged through a shared pain. In that union, they find the power of resilience and love. From a lost love to a new love found, despite and through the wounds.

4 SIENTE EL LLANTO DE LA TIERRA (Feel the earth's cry)

It is about daring to look at everything that is causing us harm—wars, genocides, all forms of violence… Not to remain stuck in it, but to want to do something that can transcend it, to seek change, and to recognize the profound value of empathy.

5 ENCUENTRO (Encounter)

It is the quest to navigate through life despite its sways and instabilities, trying to maintain melody and harmony, and even beauty. It is about moving forward with change, rather than resisting it

6 PRESENCIA (Presence)

Stillness, calm, observation, and acceptance of things as they are, rather than how we wish they were. The rain is what happens to us; we can either make it a part of ourselves or reject it.

7 RESPIRA (Breathe)

Dedicated to refugees, orphaned children, children who have experienced sexual abuse, or those left unprotected… Once again, to convey hope, a new opportunity, a new home, and the worthiness of healing and love. We are more than our broken pieces; we are what we become after integrating them and with every step we take in life.

8 ALZA TU VOZ (Raise your voice)

Strength, union, a tribute to the people who have fought for human rights and for helping life, in social, political, and spiritual spheres. Connecting with their inspiration, choosing a better way to act, transcending fear and polarization.

NEREA MAFARKI

Singer, songwriter, and author from Asturias, specializing in world music and fusion. Music has always been a part of my life, journeying through various genres. I have been—and still am—fortunate enough to learn traditional styles from different countries through projects with fellow musicians and friends: Sico Bana and Taamalaa (West African music and Fusion), Sueños de Azahar (Arabic, Andalusian, and Sephardic music), Sonqoy Pacha (Andean music), Novan (Persian music and Fusion), collaborations with El Chojin and El Locus (Rap), and with Suria Pombo (mantras from various spiritual traditions of India). Currently, I also lead the Alma Aduná project, which includes a world music choir, personalized singing lessons, songwriting for other artists, and custom songs. I am also developing a very special podcast that I will be presenting soon: “Debajo de la Piel” (Under the Skin).

The album Kelintupuah was my first personal music project, produced by Bruno Travi and also funded thanks to Verkami. It was another fusion album featuring my own compositions, blending sounds, languages, and collaborations from even more corners of the world and diverse styles. It was born from a quest to honor the differences between us humans, to pursue an introspective journey, and to share messages of union: Listen to Kelintupuah

BRUNO TRAVI

Multi-instrumentalist musician, composer, and sound engineering technician. Andean wind instruments were the first to guide me toward music at a very young age. However, the piano and various keyboards, strings, and other wind instruments—such as the transverse flute, the bansuri, and the pan nai—also found a place in my heart. I have had the fortune of working with and for great musicians across diverse genres: Diosdado Gaitán and Kusillajta (Andean roots and fusion), in popular music and rock projects such as Divididos, Nosequien y Los Nosecuantos, and Cementerio Club; and in symphonic and classical projects like the National Orchestra of Spain and the Philharmonia Orchestra, among others. These projects have taken me to stages all over the world: Japan, the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Peru.

These influences, combined with my love for music, my studies in sound engineering and functional harmony, and an unyielding drive to keep evolving alongside modern advancements, have led me to build a bridge between ancestral tradition and technological avant-garde. Through performance, production, and musical direction, I seek to create soundscapes that journey between the mystical and the cinematic, the roots and the contemporary.

It is an enriching gift to be able to leave a piece of myself in such beautiful and varied projects. At the same time, I feel a deep desire to share compositions that are born from within my own soul.
