First album in the complete recording of Joan Cererols’ works

We are Cor Cererols, a professional choir founded in 2018 based in Barcelona. Since our creation, we have devoted special attention to reviving and performing forgotten Iberian vocal music – both early music and works from the early 20th century – always through artistic proposals and a sensitivity that have attracted an ever-growing and diverse audience.

One of the composers we have performed most frequently over the years is Joan Cererols, likely because his music is as brilliant, expansive, and inspired as it is unknown to most audiences. Now we have decided to go one step further and undertake the recording of his complete works over the coming years. Our goal is clear: to make every one of the works of one of the greatest musicians in our history available to listeners worldwide, and to do so with recordings of the highest artistic and technical quality, as we have done in the past with other composers.

For those who have enjoyed and continue to enjoy Cum Silentio, who have attended our concerts, who are musicians, students, enthusiasts, or lovers of music, who have a special interest in our history and artistic heritage, or who simply defend lost causes — we believe this Verkami project may be of interest to you.

This crowdfunding campaign will be entirely dedicated to covering the recording expenses of this first album in the complete works of Joan Cererols and will also offer you exclusive rewards.

What will you get by becoming a patron of the project?

From the CD box album only a limited edition will be released. By becoming a patron of the project, you ensure that we will send you one or two CDs for free, depending on the reward you choose – in a simpler pin format (an envelope with the disc), or in a box format, with all the studies about the works, texts, translations, and every detail of the project. In either case, your name will appear on the list of patrons, and we will dedicate it to you personally.

With a higher contribution, you will be able to enjoy experiences that are truly rare: attending the rehearsals prior to the recording or sharing with us the intimacy and silence of the recording sessions, which often last until late into the night.

You will also find special rewards: the special Christmas gift, the special conducting students pack, or the exclusive video, available nine months before the album’s release, of one of the unpublished works that we will record on this first CD.

Who will we be making this album?

The album will be recorded by Cor Cererols, featuring singers Brenda Sara, Marta Esteban, Mariona Llobera, Mercè Bruguera, Ferran Mitjans, Martí Doñate, Joan Climent, and Oriol Mallart; Jeremy Nastasi and Joan Seguí on theorbo and positive organ performing the basso continuo, and Marc Díaz as musical director.

We are fortunate to have Santi Barguñó as the project’s music producer, with whom we previously collaborated on our album Cum Silentio. The album will be recorded in immersive Dolby Atmos format and released under the Llum label, a sublabel of Neu Records, which will also handle the album’s graphic design.

What will your contributions be used for?

Your contributions will be used to:

• Help cover all the technical expenses of the album’s production: the cost of recording, physical and digital design, and physical manufacturing of the limited editions of the album.

• Help cover the expenses related to the musical part: score transcriptions, fees, and rental of instruments and rehearsal spaces.

• Cover the expenses derived from the Verkami campaign and the shipping costs of the rewards.

Expected schedule

• Recording: January 2026 (rehearsals on the 8th and 9th and recording from the 10th to the 12th)

• Post-production and manufacturing: April – August 2026

• Presentation of the album and delivery or shipping of the rewards: September – October 2026
