Festival S'Illo 2025. 12 years without institutional financial support thanks to you!

WHERE/WHEN:

You will find us at the Sa Talaia venue in the Mallorcan town of Santanyí. The S'Illo Festival, like our town of Santanyí, is a family-friendly, charismatic and welcoming place. At the S'Illo Festival we welcome proposals from theatre companies of many nationalities, such as Spain, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Germany.

It is the leading independent festival, which is only possible with our financial support!

This year we will have the presence of important theatre artists from Andalusia (María José Castañeda), Catalonia (Arnau Sanromà, Enric Marzà), as well as other renowned ones from the Balearic Islands, such as Cia Fiblada. Thanks to your support we can offer them transport, meals and accomodation at Can Timoner.

We also organize socio-cultural conferences and give €500 to the winners of the "La Teta Premium" audience award, in exchange for carrying out an activity of their choice.

Thanks to the management of services at the Teatre Principal de Santanyí by Tshock Cultura Emocional, we can carry out part of the programming at the Theatre, at the box office and in an altruistic way in the management, independently. This year you can see different shows including, HECATOMBE, by María José Castañeda (August 30, Seville).

HECATOMBE is an audiovisual stage piece that starts from the concept of taking the STAGE " as a place for REVENGE", placing us in the vulnerability and fragility of a female actress who deepens and digs into her wound during the stage of maturity. This woman is me. A revenge that we conceptualize as the spiritual and material need of a heterosexual white woman to do justice to her own human dignity. Hecatombe is the profound revolt of a woman. A personal look at broken love, at self-love, rummaging around the wound in three directions, that of life, that of death and that of the profession.

This year, a multipurpose hall of 200 square meters is being incorporated in Palma de Mallorca with a capacity of 200 people, owned by Jeroni Obrador himself, in the Pere Garau neighborhood, the most populated and multicultural in Palma. A working-class neighborhood where there is no type of theater, creation and exhibition hall. Its adress is Pere II,2. And it is called Sala Ànima, referring to the theatrical genre of emotional training created in the residence center and supported in Iberoamerica.

On August 29, 2025 at 08:00 pm, Pato Conde will perform a performance called "Téntol" at Sa Talaia (Ses Pedreres,10 Santanyí).

It should be noted that the show "BETADINE" by Cia Fliblada, will take place on August 31, 2025. Venue to be determined.

BETADINE is a proposal for contemporary stage creation that investigates the wound as an explanded concept: bodily, emotional, territorial and digital. Throught a hybrid dramaturgy that combines dance, text, performative action and visual achieve. The piece delves into the imaginaries surrounding pain, healing and scaring as metaphors of resistance and transformation.

And finally, the S'Illo 2025 Festival will conclude with the following shows:

-"¿Quién matará a Mesalina?" on September 12 and 13, 2025 at the Teatre Principal de Santanyí by the Tshock Cultura Emocional company.

Synopsis:

Salomé runs the Limbo Club, where the unfaithful sinners of the Mercadona who do not fit in purgatory go. Tonight she must find someone to kill the femme fatale Mesalina so that her soul can finally be freed, to go to heaven or by order of Saint Peter she will go to hell.

In the well of the Limbo Club, to her surprise, there is Joan Baptista who has gagged Mesalina, who cannot get out, which is urgent for him, since he must find a misogynist among the attendees before the day ends.

Synopsis:

Rates Projecte is a dramaturgical and scenic exploration through systems of coding, transcription and scenic restriction that enable its expression, through a thematic approach to hauntology and ghostly inheritance, practices such as calligrams, combinatories, lipograms and psychographic experiments are explored. The S'Illo Festival owes its roots to our past, as it was born within an association that has now disappeared without any institutional support and with more than 1200 members.

In the Can Timoner association we learned to self-manage and work with and for the members.

Thanks to his fact of authenticity and the altruistic commitment of Tshock Cultura Emocional to maintain this reality in its 12 calls, the S'Illo Festival is an event of cultural resistance, which allows society to feel that is has a free place to express itself without conditions, to show it concerns and share them.

We are comitted and demanding festival: in its socio-cultural days, in each edition we like to contribute our little bit of sand to improve the problems of our society.

This fact makes it possible to interact with great names in the Theatre such as Jodorowsky, Arabal, Mamen Duch, Toni Gomila... who have understood how S'Illo makes sense in defending the love of art.

Whatever happens, whatever cultural policies say, the patrons support us and know that this freedom of action is possible thanks to your contribution and participation.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

With the exhibition of Balearic, national and international shows and with the holding of free socio-cultural days where theatrical acts suitable for all audiences are organized.

For example, in 2022 we discussed the topic "THE INTERVENTION OF THEATRE IN CURRENT SOCIETY", in 2021 we discussed "THE NEW NORMALITY", the result of the situation caused by COVID-19, and in 2020 we talked about "LGTBIPHOBIA".

This year a conference entitled "Awakening the Abyss That we Are: A Look at Art and Instinct" (David Vélez) will be held. It will take place on September 6, 2025 at 7:00 pm at Sa Talaia.

From here, we would like to thank our spectators, patrons and artists for their support and those of you who are reading us for the first time. Also the groups and platforms, the Matacandelas Theater in Medellin (Colombia), the Latin American Theater Corridor and the Santiago of Festival... thank you all for your trust and artistic support another year.

The S'Illo Festival, as is tradition, ends with the awarding of the Illo and Teta Premium awards.The S'Illo awards are for the best actor/actress, the best playwright, and the best director. The Teta Premium is the award for the best show of the Festival. Both awards are chosen my the audience. The winning show gets €500 and a work of art made by some Mallorcan artists in exchange for carrying out an activity or the socio-cultural days the following year: Last year the winning show was "Exercicis de crueltat per a infants" (by Arnau Sanromà, Enric Marzà, Clara Mir).

PLANNED SCHEDULE:

The S'Illo Festival 2025 program begins on August 29 and ends on September 14, 2025. It concludes with the Teta Premium awards gala in September.
