Here we are, a group of passionate people eager to create, and we have a challenge for which we are asking for your collaboration...

Let me tell you about it!

WHAT IS ‘BATH TIME’?

An intimate and emotional short film that portrays a crucial moment between a mother and her daughter. Through care—in its most complex and human form—the story explores how tenderness can prevail even in the midst of conflict. An invitation to reflect on bonds and take advantage of the power of cinema to bring us closer together when life, or rather we ourselves, make it difficult.

PROVISIONAL CALENDAR

The project began in September 2024. After several versions of the script from January to June, it is currently in the rehearsal and technical preparation phase in July.

Filming will take place in mid-August in Segovia and editing between September and October, with a view to circulating at festivals during 2026.

This is coming along nicely!

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR WITH THIS PROJECT?

  • We want to address an essential issue: care. A deeply human act that, far from being simple, becomes even more complex when it occurs within the family.

  • While many works focus on care during old age, we are interested in highlighting what happens when a situation of dependency or deterioration arises earlier than expected, in the prime of life.

  • This story also speaks of generations, of the roles between mother and daughter, of the patterns inherited by women, of the unspoken that remains entrenched, and of the paradigm shift that runs through it all.

  • Furthermore, we want this project to be a space where each team member can contribute from the role that excites them most, allowing their talent to be freely expressed and visible. Unfortunately, this is not always possible in our profession.

WHO ARE WE?

We are a team of friends and professionals from the audiovisual and performing arts fields, united by a common motivation: to create our own projects that have a social and human impact. We share values, an artistic vision, and a way of working that prioritises enjoyment, collaboration, and care within the creative process.

Here we all are:

Working hand in hand on the script and shaping this story are María Capas and Jon Frenkel.

Creators of ‘Bath Time’
Creators of ‘Bath Time’

María as the creator of the project from the original idea, first version of the script, taking on the role of producer, sharing the direction vision, and actress in the role of Pilar, one of the protagonists.

Jon Frenkel gives his all in directing, with the brilliant support of artist Clara Navarro as assistant director on set, who has been involved since the beginning of the project, forming part of the trio of creative minds.

Jon is putting the script together with the cast of actresses and creating wonderful images alongside our director of photography, Alejandro Viyuela.

Alejandro (Viyu) and Jon have worked together before, and we are fortunate to have their professionalism and keen eye. With him, we have completed the technical team, which also includes Marta Moraga as his assistant photographer and Agustín Rezza as sound engineer. They will solve the complexity of filming in a bathroom...

In the cast... We have a true character and artist, Imán Velasco, who will play the leading role of Antonia, the mother. Her gaze says it all.

And in the role of Carmen, Pilar's sister, we are fortunate to have Teresa Yoldi, who could be María's sister in real life.

Cinema is the art of editing, and that's where Antonio Castillo's good taste comes in, as he knows how to work magic even when it comes to inserting a letter. He, along with María Capas and director Jon Frenkel, will complete the post-production phase.

And the music? Of course, Aitor Valencia, musician, composer and music producer.

On a film set, you always need a trusted ally who is capable of anything. In my country, we say that person is ‘Echá palante’ (that goes for it). The all-rounder is Patricia Bonilla.

WHY VERKAMI?

We are seeking funding for a 15–20-minute social short film, ensuring that we can cover:

  • Cost of the team's labour. In addition to transport and subsistence allowances during filming.

  • The equipment needed to achieve technical quality in production and post-production (lighting, cameras, props, costumes, etc.).

  • A professional distribution service to maximise visibility, both nationally and internationally.

YOUR SUPPORT COUNTS. AND IT HAS ITS REWARDS!

In addition to the reward of having made a creative project by a group of passionate people possible, your name will appear in the credits of the short film as a token of our gratitude. We are thrilled by every contribution and will always be grateful to you. ❤️

FAQ
