INTERMEDI - Short film

Intermedi is a fiction short film. This absurd comedy places us in the space between life and death, taking the form of a bureaucratic office where you must complete the regulatory procedures to reach the Afterlife.

Intermedi takes inspiration from the stories of Franz Kafka and Pere Calders; and adds the tone of the Monty Python sketches, the absurdity of Everything Everywhere All at Once and the visual style of Jacques Tati.

Intermedi follows Flora, a 24-year-old who feels she has done nothing of value. When she suddenly arrives at the Intermedium, she decides to cross a bureaucratic maze to resurrect and fix her life.

She will not do these efforts alone: she will have to share this journey with Valkyrie 798621, a secretary fed up with guiding souls through the office; Angel 206578, an administrator who seems too happy to tell you that you have died; and the Laughing Man, a soul who has accepted his death and is having a great time in the Waiting Room 42.

But as Flora progresses, doubts begin to appear: is it worth returning to life, where she did not feel at ease? What is her plan to fix everything she didn’t like? But at the same time, does she dare to die? To accept that this has been the life she has lived?

Esteve Gómez Peña is the director and screenwriter. He has a degree in Audiovisual Communication from UPF and is studying the Master in Cinematographic Direction at ECIB.

Recently, he has directed and written his first short film L'exterminador Van Pelsing, a horror comedy selected in the Panorama Section of taSHORTfest and the Official Selection of Fantosfreak. In his free time, he has a YouTube channel about cinema, and he has been a volunteer at the Molins Horror Film Festival since 2022.

Felipe Molano is the director of photography. He has worked as an architecture and landscape photographer until two years ago, when he began his career as a cinematographer at ECIB, where he has participated in short films as part of the camera and light team.

Preproduction of Intermedi has started with the filming of the teaser that you can watch at the beginning of this same page. This teaser gives us a first look at Flora, the Laughing Man and the Intermedium's bureaucracy.

The filming of the short film will be from September 15th to the 19th of 2025.

Immediately after, we will start postproduction, which we plan to finish in January of 2026, when we will deliver the rewards.
