50th anniversary of 27 September 1975. The generosity of the resistance.

27 September 1975 is a date marked with blood and memory in our history, which we want to remember 50 years after five young people were shot, an episode that shocked the world. Murdered after summary courts martial by military tribunals, in one of the last demonstrations of cruelty by Franco's terrorist regime. It was a strategy of continuity of a regime that was dying.

Those people fought for everyone, they were the resistance and represented the break with fascism. For the freedom, justice and dignity of a people subjugated for decades. They paid with their lives and with their youth the price of confronting the dictatorship, and they left us a legacy that we must not forget.

We want to disseminate their testimony, remember their stories, their struggle and their legacy, not to stay in the past, but to learn from it, to reflect on what was achieved and what still remains to be done, to honour those who fought for freedom and justice.

To this end, we are going to produce:

A tribute book

A choral book that gathers exceptional documentation and a wide contribution of testimonies of the time.

The voices of the relatives of those murdered, of the survivors of those last councils, of the defence lawyers silenced or expelled from the military tribunals at gunpoint, and of various anti-Franco fighters and activists.

The book also reflects the enormous national and international reaction against the dictatorship, which thus entered its final phase in the midst of the bloody repression that had always defined it. All of this is framed within the subsequent struggle for truth, justice and reparation that for half a century had been denied to those who had been murdered. A struggle for democratic memory that has not yet ended, to which this book is an important contribution.

Author: editorial team of El Garaje Ediciones together with anti-Franco activists, lawyers and relatives of those repressed and assassinated by the dictatorship.

Characteristics: Approximately 300 pages, paperback binding (in preparation), text, documentation, photographs and illustrations from the period.

An exhibition

We want to exhibit testimonies of the period, by anonymous and recognised authors: graphic documents: photographs, posters, books, stickers and allusive pictures. Audiovisual documents.

A commemorative event

We want to bring their testimony to our days, to make this commemorative event through music, poetry, testimonies, a cry for memory, an act of resistance, to be a bridge with our collective memory.

The money we raise will be used to finance the book, the exhibition and the tribute.

• CD by Pedro Faura (Manifiesto) released in autumn 1975 by a German independent record company. Its cover and final artwork was a work by Paul Kalkbrenner, a German graphic designer of relevant prestige.

• Numbered engraving made in two plates and printed in two colours.

Who we are

EDICIONES EL GARAJE and PLATAFORMA ABIERTA AL ALBA are jointly preparing the publication of the book, the exhibition and the event.

Planned calendar

The book will be printed at the end of May, the exhibition is expected to be held in September and October 2025 at the Fundación Anselmo Lorenzo and the event will be held on 27 September at CCOO (C/ López de Vega - Madrid)
