Only Rats - Stop Motion Documentary Short Film to give voice to homeless people

Only Rats is a docufiction short film in stop motion in which real homeless people give voice to many of our characters.

The goal of this project is to spend a little time with these people, as if we were having a beer with them. This way, maybe the next time we cross paths with someone asking for help on the street, at least we'll look them in the eyes.

Between 10% and 20% of the proceeds will be donated to shelters for homeless people.

Adri, a young and prejudiced squirrel (like everyone), finds herself in a place full of rats. She’s not quite sure how, but soon she’s sitting at a table with them, listening to them talk about their goals, dreams, and life experiences.

This story is based on my personal experience traveling to New York for an art residency (hi, I’m Paz, the one directing hehe), where I developed the idea for a teaser that I’m excited to present to you next...

Why do we ask for your help?

It's important to lead by example, which is why we want to donate between 10% and 20% of the proceeds. Half will go to the place where I conducted the interviews in New York, and the other half will go to an organization working in our city, Valencia (yet to be determined).

The percentage to donate will depend on the funds raised:

• Up to 10,000€ -> donate 10%

• Up to 15,000€ -> donate 15%

• From 30,000€ onward -> donate 20%

The rest will be used to cover production costs (distribution, post-production, sound, etc.).

• A prop used in the short film. If you're a collector or if you love us a lot... maybe this reward will interest you. Once production is finished, we will make sure to send it to you safe and sound.
  

• A guided tour of Pangur during the filming! OMG, are you obsessed with me? Anyway, you’d be cordially invited to come to the studio, with a typical Valencian snack included... Tempting, huh?

Okey, but... who are you?

I’m Paz, the director of this short film. I recently ventured into the world of stop motion, and I just can’t stop, can’t stop, can’t stop.

Pangur adopted me to teach me how to fly, and that’s what we’re working on. Leti, Vicente, Iván, and Lucía are the professionals who dare to take me by the hand.

Estimated timeline

We’re currently in production and plan to finish by October 2025.

When will I get my goodies?

• You’ll get access to the making of as soon as you participate in the campaign.

• Digital materials like the link to the short film or the artbook will be sent once production is finished, which we estimate will be between December 2025 and January 2026.

• The same goes for physical materials (artbook, t-shirts, props, etc.), and we aim to ship them before January 2026.
