One day I went for a ride around Ibiza with a Typhon and ended up drawing an illustrated guide of more than 100 pages. Then I printed 1,200 books and they sold out. Until today.
That was 10 years ago and as there are still billions of people who didn't buy the book at the time, we want to give them a new chance by printing another edition of IBIZA! The most special one, the tenth anniversary edition.
The book IBIZA! 10º Aniversary
In this travel notebook you will find more than 100 pages full of illustrations, comments and recommendations about that island that fascinated hippies, artists and, unfortunately, also footballers..
The first edition was published on Verkami and the 10th Anniversary Edition will be like this: same as the original but printed on the 10th anniversary, although in reality it is not even the tenth but the eleventh or twelfth. I don't remember.
I made the book by travelling around the island on a scooter and drawing strictly from life with a drawing folder, a small box of watercolours and very small budget.
Hardcover - 21 x 13 cm - 112 full-color pages.
Written in fairly correct Spanish.
A lot of drawings and comments made IN SITU.
Contents
Dalt Vila, Patrimonio de la Humanidad. It's very hot in summer. It's best to visit in the afternoon/evening. And be careful, keep an eye on what you leave in the car because my backpack was stolen.
Dalt Vila again. 10 years ago, working on one of the drawings and below is the result.
Vila. The city of Ibiza is also known as Vila and there is always a seagull to draw in the sky.
Payesas. This graffiti of the country girl on a motorbike is now covered by a wall. Let's crowdfund to tear it down.
Sheets hanging out to dry. It's nice to see that the Mediterranean tradition of hanging clothes out on the balcony is still maintained.
Es Canar. I have to admit that the text ES CANAR spoiled what could have been a rather nice drawing. Sorry. I apologize.
Fun Facts: The Pereira Theatre should actually have been written Pereyra, with a Greek y, but the bricklayers made a mistake when writing the name on the façade.
Painted stones. An exhibition could be made with the painted stones that are scattered along paths and roads.
Cala Conta. I wrote that penguins go to that island to spawn and some people asked me if it's true. I want to take this opportunity to refute it, penguins do NOT go there to spawn or do anything.
Fishermen's huts. In Sa Caleta, a very charming beach.
Bar Bernat Vinya. Order toast with melted cheese.
Cafés Ibiza and a wave. There are two coffee brands that are the best, one of them is Cafés Ibiza. The other is perhaps the one made with elephant poop.
Churches. Few places have churches as minimalist, fresh and attractive as in Ibiza.
