Dear friends:
Many of you know me, some of you for 44 years, as an independent photojournalist, since I was a small. Almost always covering conflicts, wars and stories related to the violation of #HumanRights.and with some awards: such as Pulitzer 1995, Journalism and Human Rights 2008 and 2016, García Márquez 2021, National Photography Award "Piedad Isla" 2022 and others.
36 years ago I was an eyewitness to the gratuitous violence, apartheid, silent pain, injustice, ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinian people. Bullets against stones. Bullets against heads.
Like the murder of this child in front of my eyes... and my camera.
It was 5 months in 1988, 150 nights in which I woke up dreaming of the barbarity of the previous day and went out to document the next one.... Now I still have nightmares at night, and also during the day, when I wake up and “live it” from a distance on the networks. Like many of you…
After 44 years of covering accumulated wars and conflicts and the resulting poor mental health, I still feel like going to Palestina with my colleagues Palestinian journalists who pay with their lives for the right to inform and be informed.
I think it is fair and necessary to remember so as not to repeat. History did not begin on October 7, 2023
If we knew it, perhaps we would not be living the ongoing #GazaGenocide live.
I think it is appropriate and important to recover those hundreds of old black and white negatives, lost for years, and recently found in suitcases and attics, to turn them into the Photo Book: #IntifadaPalestina1988
We are not going to save Humanity, nor stop the unleashed barbarity, but we can recover humanity and leave a graphic record of the historical memory of occupied Gaza and the West Bank. So that it does not happen again. So that they cannot say that it was not known.
Only you can rescue this part of History. Now.
BECOME A PATRON NOW !!!
I think it is worth the effort to build this ship-book. I hope it sails thanks to your unfurled sails !!!
So that History is not forgotten.
Thank you very much
USE this link to SPREAD on your social networks and to family and friends https://vkm.is/intifada1988
It is VERY IMPORTANT.
To achieve the objective, it is essential to SPREAD the campaign. The easiest way is to share the content from my Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts
For the production and realization of the book and its distribution, we have to do various tasks, such as searching for negatives, editing and post-production of the photographs, design, layout, text correction, printing (24x17cm, 130 pages approx. and soft cover) and finally... the shipments, which we hope will reach your hands in October. We will keep you updated on the whole process. There is not much left :)
Thank you very much for your support of independent journalism with a focus on Human Rights and without prior censorship, which I have been trying to practice for 44 years. Although it is increasingly difficult to survive from this wonderful profession given the lack of interest and investment from most media.
You can now reserve here the book “IntifadaPalestina1988”, which will be carefully edited, thanks to your essential collaboration.

Ojalá no sea demasiado tarde.
