A few years ago, my life partner suffered from a serious illness. During the treatment, which lasted for over a year, I walked daily along the Fuengirola Promenade to clear my mind and body from the constant tension we were under. The photographs in this project are the result of those walks.
The Promenade is a place of healing. The town's residents and its numerous inhabitants use the promenade throughout the year for activities beneficial to the body and mind: gastronomy, sports, yoga, meditation, walks, fishing, games, contemplation... It doesn't seem like anyone who goes to the Promenade leaves feeling worse. It helped me to diminish the anguish of those days.
I had always intended to undertake a photographic project about the Promenade, observing it from multiple perspectives and seasons of the year. A collage of visual poetry with a touch of humor. Circumstances aligned for it to happen.
I'm a graphic designer, but I love photography. It's the only activity where I am completely free in terms of creativity. I enjoy challenges that impose strict limits to enhance creativity, and this is one of them: exploring a specific place photographically over a period of time.
These limitations allow me to focus on the essence of what I'm photographing, observing how the place changes during different times of the day or seasons of the year, how the people who inhabit it behave, but also to convey messages through the images. I invite you to discover them.
Of course, the entire project is dedicated to Yolanda, who happily recovered at the end of 2018.
