Introduction

We are excited to present this musical collaborative project of two progressive rock bands, The Flying Caravan and SomeWhereOut, which will be captured on a shared vinyl to take us on a sensory journey that promises to be unforgettable.

Why are we doing a split?

We both wanted to release vinyl and we thought we could get together to take advantage of the idea and use this split as an excuse for a crowdfunding with material from both bands.

Who we are as a group

The Flying Caravan
The Flying Caravan

The Flying Caravan was born in the mind of Antonio Valiente, a musician based in Alicante (Spain). Antonio focuses on the idea of developing his own compositions with references in Progressive Rock and Classic Rock.

The band's first album entitled "I Just Wanna Break Even" is recorded at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UMH in Altea (Alicante) and is released on CD in 2021 by Paella Records. In 2023 it is re-released by the Italian label Wormholedeath.

The band records two new tracks for an EP entitled "Stage Access" during the month of November 2022 at Peak Studios in Alicante. Once again the band counts with the work of the great illustrator Mario Domínguez for the cover.

SomeWhereOut
SomeWhereOut

SomeWhereOut is the personal project of guitarist and composer Raúl Lupiáñez from Málaga, with which he explores his musical interests based on progressive rock, metal, post-rock, academic music and more.

He has a long list of collaborators, including singers John Serrano, Alba Bermejo, Dante Martín of Neptunia and Abraham Linares of 41 Ravens, among others.

To date, he has released two studio albums (Eternity, Infinity in 2019 and Deep in the Old Forest in 2021), a single (The End of Winter in 2020) and two EPs (More Tales from the Old Forest in 2022 and What If...? in 2023) in which the influences of groups and artists such as Genesis, Alan Parsons Project, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Opeth, Riverside, Marillion and Rush can be appreciated.

Set

The album will be a Split album, which means that each band will have one side of the vinyl. We will produce 250 copies on 180g black vinyl for a powerful sound!

The package, made of 300g cardboard and printed in CMYK, will include a 12” insert with the credits for each band and their respective lyrics. The records will be hand-numbered to match the total number of copies created. There will be no more than 250 copies.

The songs of The Flying Caravan

For The Flying Caravan, this serves to introduce their new vocalist and keyboardist, Julia Novecento, and their new keyboardist, José Antonio Hernández. It also serves as a preview of what the band's new album will be like.

  • This Could be Wrong: A Folk Rock track featuring previous vocalist Izaga Plata in a duet with Julia, symbolically passing on the vocal torch of the group. It's recorded with a 12-string acoustic guitar and vocals.

  • Stage Access: The main track and namesake of the Split by The Flying Caravan. It's nearly 10 minutes long with progressive elements and sounds reminiscent of Supertramp, Queen, and Pink Floyd, with the influence of Lalle Larson on keyboard.

  • Everybody has a Story Behind: An instrumental track recorded solely with guitar, serving as the closer for the band´s vinyl side.

The songs of the SomeWhereOut

The EP "What If...?" brings three songs from SomeWhereOut's discography that are closest to classic progressive rock, remixed and remastered for this occasion:

  • Our Promise: Featuring Andrés Gabarrón on bass, Abraham Linares on vocals, David Espinar on guitar solo, and Begoña Ramos on violin. This song is from the second album "Deep in the Old Forest" and it´s inspired by the Russian folk tale "Finist, the Falcon."

  • The Loneliness: With John Serrano on vocals and José Vicente Aldeguer on keyboard solo. It belongs to the EP "More Tales from the Old Forest" and it´s inspired by the Serbian folk tale "The Stepmother."

  • What If: Featuring Alba Bermejo and Abraham Linares on vocals, from the album "Eternity, Infinity." It´s inspired by Isaac Asimov's story "Possible Worlds."

About Contributions

The contributions will go towards the production of the vinyl record and covering shipping costs. Our real goal is to see the split album published and so you enjoy the songs that both bands have prepared with so much care for you.

About Rewards

We offer various types of rewards to make this project happen. We wanted to have something for everyone, and we will be very grateful to all the people who help us, no matter which type of supporter you choose to be.

Below is a list of the types of rewards we have proposed, organized depending on where you reside; whether in Spain, Europe (EU), or the rest of the world. We understand that, in the modern world, everything is connected, but sending a vinyl to Mauritius is still a bit complicated, hoping it doesn't arrive like a bag of Golden Grahams.

Nevertheless, if you have any doubts, you can always contact us, and we can help you select the best option.

Planned Schedule

The current lead times are between 3 and 6 months for vinyl duplication, depending on the market volume.

We hope it will be less!

Once we reach the crowdfunding goal we will contact the vinyl company to confirm the dates.

After that it will depend on the shipping locations and courier companies.

You will always be well informed by your mail.
