Project Description
The cultural association Los Colindantes has acquired a center with grounds to host cultural events, but we need to rehabilitate the property.
Our project is based on organizing paid cultural events.
Often, artists work for non-profit associations or similar organizations out of love for the arts, simply to support projects. However, if the artist doesn't earn a living, the art comes to an end.
Therefore, we initiated this project to create a cultural space where all artists are compensated for their art. While we may not be able to pay a fixed fee, we want to ensure more than sufficient remuneration so that each artist feels their work and effort are deserving. We aim to establish a center where local artists and collaborators can make a living – a center that enriches the guild; the world of performing arts and crafts.
While there's much to be repaired on the property, it's already habitable, and cultural events like performing arts shows discussions and workshops such as meditation, circus arts, medicinal and edible wild plant identification, and others have been conducted.
But we want to go further. For that, we need to complete the minimum and necessary infrastructure to be able to host larger and more impactful events.
What's the Funding For?
Instead of asking for funding to finish restoring the site as the main objective, we've come up with a festival that also serves as a springboard to start making ourselves known. And with the profits from this festival, we can complete the pending repairs.
We need funding to be able to pay the artists and buy enough supplies to offer hospitality services. While the festival entrance will be charged, the venue's capacity is limited, and the entrance fee won't cover all of the expenses.
So, funding is necessary to cover artist's expenses, lodging costs, and infrastructure renovation budget in order to host the festival, other future events, and workshops.
From this event, building upon the ones we've already held, we're creating a roster of partners with whom to start operating as a regular arts center and incompassing as all disciplines.
Furthermore, through membership, festival and workshops fundings, we also aim to establish a sustainable center. At the moment we have a well, a 5000-watt generator, and 320 watts in solar panels. Little by little we will be fossil fuel independent
We need to minimize the use of the generator and maximize the power of solar and wind energy.
We're situated in a marvelous rural setting, surrounded by wild botanical garden, in a natural spot in northern Galicia that makes events pleasant and unforgettable. Where also half-an-hour away from historical cities like A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela and beautiful beaches. A setting that places the association in a location that makes activities something to remember. An environment that puts the finishing touch on the project.
All profits obtained from the festival will go towards rehabilitating the space and creating more cultural and artistic activities. And every euro from the crowdfunding will be accounted for publicly throughout. Offering the utmost transparency in the use of funds at all times. Both through the platform providing the service and through direct contact links that will be published to connect directly with Los Colindantes and their future events.
As you can see, we've adjusted the festival budget. Therefore, we're taking into account that when funding is a success, and we collectively surpass the mark we've set, there are milestones for achieving various projects we have pending.
3500 Festival + solar panels
4000 Festival + solar panels + waterproofing paint + façade art paint
5000 Festival + solar panels + battery + waterproofing paint + facade art paint + domain and website for the association and the festival, and more
The distribution of the funding is clear; these values represent the current budget.
Payment for artists and labor staff (waiters, assistants, and helpers) represents over 50% of the proceeds.

Project Impact
By organizing various types of events, many interested individuals will gather, and different circles of friendships and connections will form. Large events will attract people, and artists will congregate from various parts of the peninsula. We welcome international artists from the world of circus, music and creative people that want to participate. Small-scale events provide a space to promote local artists. With adequate funding, we'll offer outreached services to more communities. Moreover, being a cultural center close to the neighborhood, at the farmer and artisan markets we organize, local producers and merchants are empowered. It's always a good thing to support.
