Ruuuts - Wines vs Climate Change

At Ruuuts, we produce quality wines – young, fresh, and healthy. Ecological and vegan. We produce and trade them under the highest standards of quality and sustainability. We have embarked on an ambitious environmental project in collaboration with the Spanish NGO 'Trees 4 Humanity,' aiming to undertake total reforestation of 2,600 hectares of land in Cantabria (northern Spain). We also offer support to restaurants committed to the climate cause, assisting them in calculating their carbon footprint and potentially transitioning into zero-emission enterprises.

Through our environmental plan and following the same methodology, we launched this initiative on Verkami to extend the same opportunity to wine enthusiasts and individuals dedicated to the climate cause – reducing their carbon footprint through enjoying a good glass of wine.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PLAN

We have an environmental plan that we initiated a few months ago, consisting of 3 phases.

The first phase (already underway) involves establishing a seed nursery to generate seedlings for use in fire-affected and invasive reforestation areas.

The second phase entails creating a controlled experimental zone of 3 hectares through an in-depth study to regenerate the traditional native forest, supported by a pollination apiary to accelerate the process.

The third phase is the total reforestation of a 2,600-hectare area, with a maximum reforestation capacity of 1 million trees, primarily oaks and chestnuts.

Our environmental plan is being implemented in Campoo de Yuso, Cantabria.

THIS CAMPAIGN ON VERKAMI

The objectives of this campaign are as follows:

Accelerate Phase II of our environmental project.

Fund the creation of pollination apiaries.

Plant as many trees as possible.

Because even though we allocate a significant portion of our resources to reforestation, our goal for 2028 is to plant 100,000 trees in collaboration with our customers. And while 100,000 trees are a lot (really a lot), they are far from the total ONE MILLION that could completely reforest the 2,600 hectares where our project is being carried out.

THE REWARDS OF THIS RUUUTS PROJECT
(all rewards include shipping throughout the iberian peninsula; for other destinations, we will contact backers to cover transportation costs)

There are three types of rewards:

1 - Those exclusively related to the environmental plan, as some may want to participate in the RUUUTS project but not be interested in acquiring wine bottles.

These rewards are focused on tree planting in our Cantabria project.

2 - Those combining our wines with tree planting.

For this VERKAMI action, we've decided to double down: if in RUUUTS, each wine box means planting a tree on behalf of our customers, here we plant two. This means rewards with a box of 6 bottles plant 2 trees, and rewards with 1/2 box (i.e., 3 bottles) plant a tree.

These rewards, along with additional benefits, come with limited edition 'Special Patron' labels.

3 - Those related to offsetting our CO2 emissions as individuals.

According to World Bank data, each person in Spain emits 5.09 tons of CO2 per year. This is an average; some emit more, some less.

We thought it would be fun to create rewards that offset CO2 emissions for a certain period.

These rewards exclusively contain cases of our sparkling wine to celebrate a life with X or Y years of emissions-free living.

These bottles will be delivered with S*PECIAL and EXCLUSIVE labels that will be designed in collaboration with each sponsor*. So, every sponsor will participate in the design of his/her labels, getting the bottles labeled like no other bottle in the world.

COMMON GROUND - It's worth mentioning that all rewards are only available in this VERKAMI campaign. Our wines are sold exclusively through subscription to individual and professional clients. This is the only place where you can directly acquire our wines without subscription plans in between.
