The documentary
Endometriosis, a disease of unknown causes, which take 5 to 10 or more to diagnose, incurable, chronic and under diagnosed; unstudied at medical schools; is one of the most aggressive of benign diseases and which strikes at any age, causes infertility and gravely effects the mental health of its victims amongst others…
If disease is a wake up call or an alarm we ask ourselves who is shouting out for us? What is the conversation in our immediate environment? What must change, inwardly or outwearing so that we can cure ourselves or take preventative measures?
We shall learn about all of this through real stories, past and future from those diagnosed with the disease and their loved ones as well as from those professionals dealing with this disease within many different fields.
These people are engaged in trying to change our knowledge of endometriosis and revise our own concepts of health in general.
Objective of the project
Our objective in doing this work is, above all, to inform people about Endometriosis. 2 million women in Spain alone have been diagnosed with this illness. That’s 1 in every 10 women. There is only one single documentary in existence in Spain about endometriosis and its from over a decade ago. The international picture is equally barren. This is why it’s important to us to renew what is known, and not commonly known about endometriosis. Thanks to the variety of audiovisual content platforms and social media we have many tools within our reach to reach out to both the victims of endometriosis as well as to those who want to help out by learning about endometriosis.
Thus, and since we find ourselves within a receptive social climate, we can achieve that which was once upon a time socially awkward or tabs is no longer an obstacle. This crowdfunding is also an invitation to those people involved with endometriosis who would like to participate in our project. As we are currently living a contest of social change, our goal is to build new stories of transformation. Stories of the benefits… which is one of the reasons we have chosen crowdfunding for financing our project and which allows for a direct relationship between the project and those who are contributing to it. Thanks to this ability and to the system of benefits, it’s so much easier to reach our goals as well as convey and spread information about this dire social issue. This is why, mainly, the benefits we hope for relate to educating people.
Objective of the project
Thus, our project not only contributes a documentary to the outcome of this social issue, but also contributes to a certain social transformation regarding endometriosis. Any and all contributions to the crowdfunding can be done altruistically specifying parts or who benefit amounts. The amount of time of these benefits will differ according to the nature of same. For example, Posters could be handed in before spring and instruction could be carried out in summer when recording is complete. The remaining benefits such as the ling and projections, would only be effective when the documentary is finished.
Professionals who collaborate in the project
Valeria Augello
Is a graduate of Audiovisual Communication with a long history as a producer as well as in Art Design. She has worked in publicity and video as a high-level artist such as C. Tangana. Valeria designed the media prints for this documentary and manages graphic design for the project.
Beatriz López
Her story forms part of the lives we document in this project. Beatriz was diagnosed with endometriosis and decided to go through artificial insemination so as not to miss out on her chances of becoming a mother. Beatriz works with us not only by showing us her strength and sharing her story with us but she also helps us to create bonds between our project and the professionals who have helped her along the arduous journey into FIV.
Sofía Serrano Viriot
Through her personal story Sofia shows us the terrible side of this disease. Her testimony is crucial for understanding the depth of this problem and causes us to reflect deeply as a society on what we do not do well and what is not being done to improve the issue. Sofia has a degree in the Psychology of Education/Psychopedagogy and a Masters in Politics and Educational Innovation. She is an active participant in our project and has created and designed an interactive course on endometriosis.
Jennifer Ela Martín (Jem)
Just like Sofia, Jem knows personally the ravages of endometriosis in her own body. Together, Jem and Sofia share their experiences in Spain and internationally as they have sought help in order to improve their health and carry on living a productive life. Together, Jem and Sofia have designed the course we are offering given that the fundamental purpose of this project is to educate people and inform them about endometriosis.
Together Jem and Sofia have designed the course we offer into which your participation will be divided as follows.

Planned schedule
Although it is true we have already initiated the work of documentation and preproduction…We already have some testimonials and nearly all of the script is complete.
We currently await knowledge of our exact and total funds in order to close our production plan. This is the reason why this funding is so vital to our project. Should we meet our crowdfunding goal, filming would take place from May 2023 to Autum 2022. During the first months of 2023 post production and editor would take place in order to present the final edition of the project in March of 2023.
