¿Who we are?
Urbanismo Unitario unites a group of editors and designers established between Madrid and Barcelona leading a self-managed editorial project focused on publications of royalty-free works. We want to disseminate knowledge, bringing the experience of reading to paper with visual culture.
¿What do we do?
For six months we have been working on the selection of royalty-free texts which we diagram and design with careful aesthetic decisions.
Our first impression was Bulletin # 1 of the Internationale Situationniste magazine, which published 12 issues from 1958 to 1969. Following the original design, translating the text into Spanish and English.
Later we published the S.C.U.M. Manifesto by Valerie Solanas, published in 1967, represents one of the key texts of the feminist movement of the time. We are currently working on the design of a third and fourth publication: The Tales of the Marquis of Sade and the essay "Reflections on the Guillotine" by Albert Camus.
We also continue to edit the next 11 issues of the Internationale Situationniste in order to complete the collection.
Among the authors that will be part of the next publications that will appear throughout the year we can find:
Georges Bataille
Sylvia Plath
Socrates
Angela Davis
Gibran Khalil Gibran
Virginia Wolff
Søren Kierkegaard
¿Why do we do a Crowfunding?
We have paid for the production of these publications with our own resources and in order to continue taking these texts that usually do not go off the digital screen into a more material format, we need a series of elements that make this work self-sustaining, so that we can print in our own space. Through this crowfunding we would also like to produce the next 4 publications: Bulletin # 2 of the Internationale Situationniste, The Tales of the Marques de Sade, Reflections on the Guillotine by Albert Camus and Poems by Sylvia Plath.
We faithfully believe in the democratization and dissemination of knowledge, experience and the charm of printed letters, the smell of books and ink and the touch on paper.
