WHY DO WE REQUEST YOUR SUPPORT?

Circ Altea is a live performance and non-profit-making festival, which principal aim is to serve as a meeting point for creators and audience. Shows and activities at this festival have free entrance and are outdoors, with the only exception of the Gran Gala Circ Altea, which celebrates inside Palau Altea.

Our aim is the artists feel comfortable, cared and pampered, covering all the expenses they could need for the housing, food and travel. We have the same needs for the staff of the festival, there is plenty people behind making it happen year after year.

Nowadays, within the economic and political situation we are living, we have very little economic support by public administration, even less than in previous editions. It is not much what we need, but this year, without your support we will not be able to celebrate Circ Altea properly.

This is why we are asking you to support the festival: **to cover the expenses of the artists and the staff of Circ Altea, in concept of housing, diets and displacement.

DO YOU KNOW FESTIVAL CIRC ALTEA?

Circ Altea is a live performance festival that, every autumn, brings to the streets of the beautiful town of Altea, specially contemporary circus, but also dance, theatre and music: two uninterrupted days of laughs and expectation, replete with free outdoors shows for all audiences and ages, and the traditional Gran Gala Circ Altea, our Great Circus Show, as final colophon at the Palau de les Arts of Altea.

Circ Altea was born four years ago to promote the performance arts of our region, and the great reception of the audience has filled us always with energy and illusion to continue growing and offering more and better shows and activities year after year.

WHEN IS CIRC ALTEA CELEBRATED?

Once passed the summer, we welcome the autumn with happiness and illusion. That’s why we choose the first weekend of October the 6th and 7th, to offer to the population of Altea and its numerous visitors this special and different leisure alternative: the best of contemporary circus combined with other arts and within new spaces!

WHERE IS CIRC ALTEA CELEBRATED?

In Altea, a beautiful town of Alicante known by its long artistic and cultural tradition, and that has been able to maintain its magic and captivation, and to integrate new trends and ways of life as the years went by. A tourist excellent destination of narrow and sinuous streets, beautiful houses and embraced by the sea.

WHY DO WE CELEBRATE THIS FESTIVAL?

And we wonder, why not? We like Circ Altea’s existence for many reasons, for us, of vital importance, specially in hard times like the one we are living right now in which culture is more necessary than ever.

Circ Altea was born to promote culture in the Valencia Community, where, in our opinion, are needed more festivals able to promote and follow the growth of contemporary circus, new musical trends and scenic arts in general. Circ Altea has consolidated itself as meeting place between creators and spectators, between the culture and its reason of existence.

Circ Altea was born also to integrate the region of Marina Baixa in the international circuit of street theatre and circus festivals, becoming a reference to general public but also to specialised public, national and international programmers.

Circ Altea was also born to be a meeting point for local, national and international artists. Our aim is to facilitate communication and interrelationship between cultural creators.

Finally, Circ Altea finds also his existential reason on nourishing the leisure time of Altea’s residents and visitors with different, interesting and qualified scenic arts.

SHOWS PROGRAM

This year we will have contemporary circus of quality for all kind of audiences and ages, from the morning of Saturday, the 6th of October until the night of Sunday, the 7th of October.

You will be able to enjoy air acrobatics, balances, juggling and manipulation of objects, contortion, clowns… and also theatre, music, dance, workshops and lots of humour.

The emblematic Gran Gala Circ Altea will take place on Sunday, the 7th October at 17:00 in the Palau de les Arts of Altea. One unique 90 minutes show, with a compilation of the best of the artists of this years program.

WHO WE ARE?

The principal maker of this project is called Lomi Szil, creator and art director, who decided four years ago to create a circus festival in Altea, to give the possibility to many artists to show his work and creations to the public.

With him, has always been the visual artist Gisela Plasencia, managing communication tasks, logistics and video recording everything that happens during the festival.

But this festival would not be possible without the support of friends, artists, the audience, … There are many names, and if we forget someone’s name it would be a fatal mistake: they all have made this festival possible.

This festival is born for you. You are his existential reason. Our aim is to facilitate the space-time where to share and to enrich our lives with illusion, where to return to our children feelings, where to look with new eyes our world.
