Niagpurr is an artbook, but also a personal challenge and the chronicle of my path towards self-improvement. It started in January 2019 as an exploration exercise, a way to learn new art techniques while looking away from the usual Eurocentric art tradition. During these last two years I've been studying the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, a famous Indian painter who combined Hindu narrative with European techniques. Inspired by him, I recreated twelve of his works, giving them my personal touch by fusing them with the anthropomorphised animals and the aesthetics of the animated films and shows I've grown up watching.
The Niagpurr artbook collects these twelve paintings and their respective creative processes, with sketches and preliminary studies, as well as anecdotes about the illustrations and the artistic tips I've learned during the process. The text will be in both Spanish and English. The artbook will be at least 56 pages long, in full colour and A4 format. But to make it, I need your help.
Thank you! We reached the base goal! ♥ But this is far from over! Now that The Art of Niagpurr will be a reality, we can continue adding more things with each additional goal!
All the reward levels will add the names of all the patrons who help fund the book to its “thanks to” section. Besides the artbook itself, there will be other extra rewards, like high-quality prints, bookmarks and a calendar to keep track of the time, among other things…
You can also add my previous artbooks as add-ons to your pledge (“BunnYnktober 2019” and “My Inkway 2014-2018”), as well as my last comic book "Onironautas: El peso de tu ausencia". The books I offer here are my last stock and there's no guarantee I will ever reprint them again, so if you really want one this could be your last chance!
If you want to add any extra books to your pledge, first choose a main reward and then choose one of the additional ones.
Important: the main rewards include shipping and handling costs only for Spain. If you need to receive the rewards outside of Spain, you will need to add "International Shipping and Handling" to your pledge.
The money will be used to pay for the translation of the texts, creating and printing the artbook and other rewards, as well as to pay the shipping and handling and covering the fee from Verkami.
In April, once the crowdfunding has finished, we will prepare the final layout for the artbook and the rewards and start working on the translation of the texts. All the physical rewards are expected to be shipped by the end of September.
