“El edificio” is a book in Spanish, containing 14 illustrated short stories, narrated in verse, with a general theme: Clashes with reality.
Very common situations in which we would have thought that they were happening in a certain way, and realised they were completely the opposite. We've got excited and ended up disappointed... And what is worse, most of these times we've blamed ourselves for it.
“El edificio” is a book keen on helping its readers to acknowledge that they are not the only ones, that it is not weird and that it is ok.
With dimensions of 15x21cm
44 coloured pages on matt coated paper 170g
Sewn binding and hard cover.
The rewards we offer, are big and unique.
We won't do small rewards because, although we are seeking for economic support, we don't want our closest people (family and friends) to feel obliged to donate.
We only want you to do it if you feel this is a good product that you really would like to own. Something that would make you feel proud of us, and of yourself too, for being part of our lives (and therefore maybe part of these stories too!).
And also for you, that knew nothing about us, to receive a huge gratitude from us, for having supported this project at its most difficult stage, the birth.
These rewards consist in two individual and completely different short stories, along with its artwork, in a full colour A3 format.
First of them is still in Spanish, and the second one is in English, dedicated to all our non-spanish speaking friends.
Please carefully choose your preferred option when purchasing
Who are we?
This project has been made by Laura y Angel, (or Kiko & Guagüi, if you're less than 2 years old and struggle to pronounce some words, like our respective siblings did, when they were just babies!).
Laura Montes is a professional illustrator and visual interpreter. She studied at the Fine Arts faculty in Salamanca (Spain), and has been a teacher in artistic education and an illustrator for children publications.
She has been selected in several occasions for both national and international illustration competitions, but her major achievement has been to deal successfully with the acrimony of surviving in a city afraid of art when it emerges, but proud and arrogant when it's recognised.
To get to know Laura a bit further, you could use her website or her instagram.
Angel Rossell De Pablos however, has been hiding for writing from quite a long time ago. Timid, perhaps, due to the long shadow casted by his grandad (Angel De Pablos) and his uncle (Angel María De Pablos), both big figures in poetry and literature in his hometown of Valladolid (Spain).
Heavy traveler and counsel of the Human Been as an intermittent thinker, he gobbles mistakes as food for creativeness.
Not a very long time ago, he surprised himself moving to the UK, due to not being able to cope anymore with the harassment that his profession (and many others) was continuously suffering in his country. After a disconnection period in New Zealand, he's back to his main occupation: Theatre. Where he combines and develops technical, administrative and sound design tasks.
To get to know Angel a bit further, you can take a look at his blog or sneak into his instagram.
But let's go back to what matters!
We would love to be able to give a thumbs up to the print shop for the first 50 books in mid January, if the campaign is looking good.
Bear in mind, every penny (or cent) will be use to pay for layout, printing and posting, for both the books and the rewards.
We would like it to be in your hands asap, so you could show it to everyone, proud like when you bet and win.
We will be happy if you will
Would you give us a go?
