This film is the gift I couldn't give to my grandfather in life: Alberto Ros, son of the photographer Bartolomé Ros. His last years were marked by Alzheimer's disease and by a peculiar and significant relationship with Photography.
I have worked for 7 years in a radically independent way, self-financing the project with family help and counting on some disinterested collaborations, among which the creative advice of filmmaker Victor Erice stands out. However, the final finishing phase requires an investment so that the film looks as it deserves and can be submitted to festivals. Crowdfunding is a way not only to finance those final finishes but also an invitation for this work and its healing value to be yours, your family's and/or your institution's.

What's the movie about?
Return to casa Ros is the story of an initiatory journey in Guatemala through which the protagonist finds a possibility for a way out to the end of his life crisis. This journey involves coming back to his place of origin, Madrid, where the protagonist reencounters his grandfather who, even having lost most of his memory, seems to unexpectedly wake up from his lethargy in front of the camera and the photographs that were once the business he ran.
Note of intentions
This story takes the shape of an intimate journal in first person about my journey to discovering my family roots as a way to reflect upon our relationship with Family Roots, Time, Memory and Images.
At the core of this story there is a mystery, one that I believe was inherited, consciously or unconsciously, generation after generation and it triggers a «way back», both literally and metaphorically.
What others said
«Naturally integrates, without striving, the family genre with a large-scale reflection that interests us all»
- Mercedes Álvarez, filmmaker
«A life testimonial that doesn't leave us indifferent. The riddle of time and friendly fire»
- Eliane Caffé, filmmaker
«An affectionate and quiet gaze that overflows sensitivity, love, quest, melancholy and truth. Like every good film it's many films»
- Fundación Escritura(s)
What's left and what is your contribution for?
The editing of the film has already been completed. The goal with this crowdfunding is to conclude the post-production phase. The pending tasks to finish the postproduction are: music composition, sound mixing, color grading, translation and subtitling, master export (DCP).
Attention, important! If the target is reached before the 40-day deadline, then I may aim for funding for the distribution phase. In such a case, I would offer new and extended rewards such as: access to archival materials, full interviews, interview with the director, discarded sequences...

«La Fotografía se convierte entonces para mí en un curioso médium, en una nueva forma de alucinación: falsa a nivel de percepción. verdadera a nivel del tiempo: una alucinación contemplada de algún modo, modesta, dividida (por un lado «no está ahí», por el otro «sin embargo ha sido efectivamente»): imagen demente barnizada de realidad.»
