CA LA ROSA, Art and Research Centre

CA LA ROSA, an old inn located in the village of Verges (Baix Empordà), is taking on a new lease of life as an Art and Research Centre.

The dream

Dear friends, through this Verkami campaign, we are calling for collective help to finish the refurbishment and complete the infrastructure of the artists' residence.

Although we have carried out significant rehabilitation work on the building, in line with criteria of sustainability, we are still short of some resources to finish the communal and work spaces for the future artists in residence.

CA LA ROSA

CA LA ROSA is a meeting space where artists can develop the different phases of an artistic project.

The centre will offer residencies with specialized accompaniment in editing and printing, as well as ephemeral design (installations). There will also be open workshops and a programme of educational and informative activities, with the aim of collaborating with other organisations around the territory.

What will your contribution be used for?

The rehabilitation project of CA LA ROSA has been fully assumed by those responsible for it. At this point, the help we need to complete the communal areas of the residence is for:

1. Completing the graphic editing workshop with the acquisition of a press, furniture, and lighting.

2. Providing the Digital Laboratory with specialized digital art equipment.

3. Furnishing the guest rooms with furniture and lighting.

4. Finishing the refurbishment of the residents’ kitchen and dining room.

In the autumn of 2024 we plan to welcome our first resident artists.

About the rewards. What are we offering?

1. Aperitif at CA LA ROSA with a little surprise

An aperitif in the centre’s courtyard, with neighbours, friends and artists, one day at noon between May and June.

2. CA LA ROSA Collection, author t-shirts

This is the main reward of the crowdfunding campaign. A unique collection of 18 t-shirts designed by creators who are collaborating with the project. All the t-shirts will be screen-printed on organic cotton in CA LA ROSA's workshop, in a limited and exclusive edition for the Verkami campaign.

Decide which t-shirts you like and how many you want, and choose the reward.

Once the campaign is closed, we will contact you so that you can provide us with the specific details of models and sizes.

3. Libro de Otro, artist's book by Isidro Ferrer

The illustrator and designer Isidro Ferrer has donated the edition of his book to support the CA LA ROSA project. Libro de Otro is a publishing project born from the author's desire to respond to the book by illustrator Miguel Magallanes. A very special gift for friends of artist's books and lovers of illustration.

Printed in two inks on 280 gr. of 100% cotton somerset paper in the workshop of Apart Edicions in Barcelona. A limited circulation of 60 numbered copies from 1/60 to 60/60 and six I/VI author tests has been performed on VI/VI. All the pieces have been numbered and signed by the same author.

5. De les Medes a Verges, original graphic work by Josep Moscardó

Artist Josep Moscardó is a notable painter and drawer of landscapes of the Mediterranean and Barcelona. Thanks to our close collaboration with him, we are offering the reward of a limited original graphic work created expressly for the crowdfunding campaign.

6. Stays at CA LA ROSA

Come in person to get to know the centre and the surrounding area. Book your stay:

• A weekend stay (two people in a double room).

• A one-week stay at the centre (from Monday to Saturday, for two people in a double room).

8. Residency stay to produce an edition

In autumn 2024, the first residency will be offered: Editing, Graphics and Context. If you are interested in being one of the first residents in the field of editing and graphic printing, you can book your place for this first stay. A 12-day residency in which you will be able to develop an editing project in screen printing accompanied by artists such as Regina Giménez and Isidro Ferrer, and with the guidance of Jordi Vilella (APARTEDICIONS).

9. NEW REWARD: Exceptional silkscreens within your reach!!

The editorial APART EDICIONS, wanted to give CA LA ROSA some very unique silkscreen printing proofs (PT), already sold out, in order to reach the established target.

As you can see, these are ‘best-sellers’ silkscreen prints of medium and large sizes, and there are only 3 or 4 units of each one. As this is a donation, we wanted to offer them as a reward WITH A SINGLE CONTRIBUTION OF 250€.

Who are we?

CA LA ROSA is a project coordinated by Anna Solanilla and Jordi Vilella together with a team of collaborators.

Anna Solanilla Roselló is a visual artist, set designer and teacher. She creates installations using, among others, techniques and narratives that use hybrid structures and digital mapping. She has also led various training projects and higher artistic studies related to the performing arts and design.

Jordi Vilella, editor of APARTEDICIONS since 1999 (Barcelona), has more than forty years of professional experience in the field of artistic screen printing. He has edited and collaborated with various national and international artists, as well as numerous institutions. APARTEDICIONS' editorial catalogue surpasses two hundred editions.

Planned calendar

Start of the campaign: 4 April 2024 // End of the campaign: 16 May 2024.

All rewards can be picked up at CA LA ROSA (Verges) or at our showroom in Barcelona from 30 September 2024 onwards. In the event that someone is unable to collect their reward in person, they can contact us to schedule a home delivery.

Rewards involving visits, stays and others will be made effective during the period between autumn 2024 and summer 2025.
