Mario, a boy recently arrived from Argentina, is completely helpless in the north of Spain when his father dies a few months after arriving. With the help of Nina, a girl trapped in the boredom of her daily life, they decide to escape and go to Granada in order to bury the ashes of his father in the land of Lorca, his favorite author.
The sudden death of his father makes Mario rethink his life and mature before his time. Despite what happened, he feels that he must maintain the freedom and energy with which they lived before.
On the other hand, Nina lives with her father away from society and the arrival of Mario gives her the chance to live adventures after the separation of his parents.
On the journey they will live their last moments of childhood while they will approach one of the biggest wounds in Spain.
The film takes place through three landscapes, a journey from the north to the south of Spain:
The exceptional nature of Cantabria is dominated by the color green that evokes an imaginary where fable and bucolic emotion are combined.
In the urban environment of Madrid, the main characters see the ideal representation that they have of the cosmopolitan world. It is precisely this eagerness that makes them enter into dissonance with the accelerated and functional way of the city. Enthusiasm easily turns into nostalgia.
The path to the south is also the approach of the sunset, the end of a journey that began in exuberance and ends in dust. That same erosion of the land, which results in a desert, is what Nina and Mario feel.
