Videoclip 'Devil Fool' para Be Brave Benjamin

We are using Verkami to try and finance a music video for Be Brave Benjamin. This project has been in the pipeline for a few months now and we are very excited about it. Our hope is to bring the project to fruition and give it the exposure it deserves.

That's the song!

A gang of boys and girls are playing a series of dangerous games. They are fearless, acting as if they were invincible. However these reckless activities result in the gradual disappearance of each of the characters as the video progresses. Yet, after each disappearance, those that remain continue to enjoy their deadly fun and games as if nothing has happened. They are like children, unaware of the danger they are in. We intend to make this an ironic video with a blackly humorous tone to the images.

The level of risk of each of the games increases as the video develops. The treatment of the images will be consistent with the irony of the idea itself. Although our characters destroy objects and set fire to things, the aesthetic of the video will be full of light and elegance. We’re not interested in darkness or tragedy: instead we want to use bright colours, beautiful decor and white lights.

As this is a music video that deals with destruction, a large part of our budget will be going towards art direction. We want to create a decor that brings to mind the films of Wes Anderson or the series ‘Grief, 2007’ by Erwin Olaf.

Be Brave Benjamin is Benjamin Palmer, an alternative folk-rock musician and songwriter. Born in Wales but based in Barcelona, Benjamin began recording and performing as a solo artist under the name Wiseacre. However, for his first full-length album as Be Brave Benjamin he sought the assistance of a group of musicians recruited from various Barcelona based bands, including Edu Campos (Nisei, Manos de Topo), Jordi Llobet (La Estrella de David, La Bien Querida, Sedaios) and Matt Jackson (Six or Seven Gregs). The contribution of these musicians gave ‘A Fine Dance’, a more rock-based sound than on Benjamin’s earlier releases. The album received excellent reviews in the Spanish music press upon its release. Be Brave Benjamin is currently at work preparing his next album. Benjamin has been compared to Lou Reed, Nick Drake, Elliot Smith, Smog and José González.

The last project completed by the team was the music video for the song ‘Onades de nit’ by the Catalan band, Inspira.

The money we are asking for will be dedicated entirely to the production of the video. None of it will be used to pay the members of the team. Because of the importance and nature of the sets in this video (as described above) the largest share of this money will go towards art direction.

The video will be filmed in Barcelona at the end of February 2012. The shoot will last 2 days and will probably be filmed all on set.

There are none published yet.
