“MOZ and I” is a documentary that describes fandom through the life of Dj Luis Le Nuit (Barcelona), the most diehard and endearing Steven Patrick Morrissey (former lead singer of The Smiths) fan. Via this link, this documentary explores the personal experience of Luis as a Dj, Morrissey’s career, and also the indie music scene transformation in Spain is explored.
It is a 60 minute film showing the most important events in Morrissey’s life, from the end of The Smiths to his coming to Barcelona in 2014. It consists of a brief account of the most relevant moments in his career, exploring his controversial personality through his songs and Luis Le Nuit’s eyes.
In addition, the documentary looks at Luis Le Nuit’s life, which will enable us to illustrate his relationship with Morrissey better and the important influence Morrissey has hadon his career as a Dj.
- How important is Morrissey in the national and international indie scene?
- Why did The Smiths split up?
- What is Morrissey really like?
These are just some of the questions we intend to answer in our documentary, through Luis Le Nuit testimony and the different people we will interview, such as Andy Rourke (The Smiths bass player), Tracy Cattell (The Primitives), Sr. Chinarro, Eric (Los Planetas), Jaime (Sexy Sadie) or Luis Troquel (who wrote The Smiths, Ed.Cátedra).
Also, the film has historical value, as it depicts the Dj scene in Barcelona from the end of the 1990’s until today, showing clubs like Depósito Legal or Razzmatazz. Luis’s friends and other renowned Djs that have followed him closely Dj Amable, Dj Gato, otros fans de Morrissey, etc.
Why are we making this documentary?
In the last Morrissey tour, we were able to witness something unbelievable: Luis jumped on the stage at Sant Jordi Club (Barcelona) when they were playing Everyday is Like Sunday and Morrissey, far from wanting him off the stage, hugged him with love, consummating one of the most important moments in Luis’s life. This link escena, has had an impact on the Net, receiving more than 55.000 clicks on Youtube.
This impromptu hug between Luis and Morrissey works as a starting point to explore the relationship between both of them. It’s a celebration. It’s Luis and Morrissey’s celebration. Our intention is to deal with the artist’s portrait from a different point of view: a fan’s. We have seen many biographical documentaries, but none of them has this angle.
With our patron’s support we will be able to make this documentary and report Morrissey’s life through Luis’s eyes and Luis’s life through Morrissey’s eyes.
This documentary thrives on people that have been relevant in the indie scene, not only in Barcelona but throughout Spain.
That’s why we have selected national and international bands that have something to say about both Morrissey and Luis. In a series of interviews, the spectator will discover the life of our protagonist and, at the same time, the life of one of the greatest pop music writers of our era.
For the soundtrack we will use songs from bands who participate in the film, who have been influenced by The Smiths or Morrissey. Furthermore, some bands will record a Morrissey cover specially.
Besides, our intention is to film in Barcelona music landmarks, clubs where Luis has worked as a Dj and somehow have a link with this story: Razzmatazz, Fantástico Club, The Sound, Sidecar, Sala Apolo, Depósito Legal, Manchester Bar, etc.

What will your support be used for?
The success of this crowdfunding is pivotal. The project viability depends on its success, as we don’t have enough financing to cover the whole of the film expenses.
