El Universo Flamenco - El Tablao

We intend to finance the publication of a comprehensive approach to Flamenco unpublished (consisting of one textbook PDF + Video - initially will be marketed through digital downloads - approximate price € 9.99).

El Universo Flamenco - El Tablao, explain the functions of each element of Flamenco (singing, dancing and guitar), and relationships, codes and possibilities. It will explore the magical atmosphere of the Flamenco Tablao as the specific stage where the artists develop professionally daily. How is it possible for the artists to understand and know what to do on the stage? We'll find out how in this method!

World renown flamenco artists are coming together to make it happen, such as Concha Jareño, Carmen "La Talegona', La Lupi, David Romero - dance; Rafael Jimenez "Falo", Angel Gabarre, Pedro Obregón - singing; Curro de Maria and Flavio Rodrigues - guitar.

General Content:

• Live recording of a traditional Cuadro Flamenco concert including a range of basic forms executed by Flamenco artists: Cantiñas, Seguiriya, Solea, Tientos, Bulerias por Solea, Taranto, Tonás, Fandangos de Huelva, etc. (Video - 80min.)

• Content targeted for singers: will explain the main sticks used to accompany the dance in El Tablao, and their basic styles, as well as examples of traditional "salidas" and lyrics. It will also explain where to breathe in the middle of a verse (tercio); how to allow the dancer to finish (examples in all "palos"); the importance of playing “palmas” very well to accompany the dance, and the importance of listening, respecting, and singing with the guitar, etc..

• Content targeted for dancers: explaining the structure of the bailes, "Palo a Palo" (Ebook - PDF). Through practical examples we will demonstrate different possibilities of dance with different types of marcajes and remates and how these work with the singing and the guitar in a single verses or falsetas in all palos. We'll also show you to understand where and when to ask the singers for a letra, and when to ask the guitarist for a falseta, etc.

• Content targeted for guitarists: will explain the fundamental tunes within the main palos used in El Tablao, and will demonstrate practical examples of traditional falsetas for an introduction, middle and end of each baile. It will provide traditional variations of escobillas (all palos), and traditional silencios (Cantiñas - Alegrias), etc. We will also explore how to accompany singing and dancing at the same time, depending on the style that the singer singing (different aire - Jerez, Lebrija, Utrera, etc.), and how guitarists who have never worked together can agree musically in order to bring a fluid experience to El Tablao, etc..

• Textbook (ebook - 50 pages), with text, photos and explanatory diagrams that will support and complement all of the video examples.

• Extra Content - interviews with all the artists involved in the project, rehearsals and light/sound checking "Making Off" in the theater, and more last hour surprises!

Budget:

The requested budget, once granted, will be designed to afford the technical means to live concerts recording, and post production editing all the stuff to the creation of instructional video (recording venue hire and trials, cameras, lights, sound stuff, etc.), as well some remuneration to all the artists involved, the edition of the book (PDF - design, review, translation into English from Spanish, etc.), and also the expenses for the digital distribution (Amazon Kindle, etc.).

We also plan to do some paid advertising (Facebook, websites and flamenco magazines, etc ...), although we are aware that we don't have budget for too much.

For now, Verkami is the only source available to finance the project.

Approximate Budget:

Recording, editing and post-production of video (cameras, lights, audio, personal ...) - 6,000€

Fee for artists involved (minimum 8 people) - 4,000€ (to all)

Design and Layout of textbook - PDF (50 pages), revision, translation (English) Licenses - 2,000€

Advertising - 1,000€

The remainder will be for Verkami and Taxation (IVA, etc.).

If we could get up to € 25,000, or even more, would be perfect. In this way, we would have more resources to carry out the project with the highest possible quality.

From the moment we had the funding approved, we would need a maximum 6 months to have the final product.

Initially, we will make a viral promo in our pages in Facebook (over 8,000 fans), Twitter (about 600 people), via mailing (5,000 contacts), MySpace (3,700 friends), YouTube (300 entries), Reverbnation, etc..

We also have the help of specialized media as Aireflamenco.com pages (over 17,000 followers on FB and another 19,000 on Twitter, in addition to its official website), and Deflamenco.com (more than 10,000 followers in various media).
