PROYECTO
"Wolfmother and the Dawn of Man" es la segunda parte de una trilogía de videos sobre la pérdida de la creación de mitos en el mundo moderno y del ritual como parte del desarrollo del ser. Es una exploración de las relaciones madre-hijo, hombre-mujer, los miedos primarios y los ritos de iniciación de niño a hombre, abordado desde múltiples acercamientos como la maternidad, el objeto del deseo, el terror, lo desconocido, lo prohíbido y el ciclo natural de la vida: Para sobrevivir y convertirse en seres completos, los hijos deben de consumir e integrar a los padres dentro de sí mismos.

SINOPSIS
En el claro de un bosque, un niño construye un laberinto en el que queda encerrado con un monstruo que resulta ser su propia madre generándose un encuentro entre los dos en el que el niño descubre la verdad sobre el tiempo, la vida, el sexo, la muerte y la transgresión de los límites morales que lo llevan a convertirse en un hombre.

INFORMACIÓN SOBRE EL RODAJE
El rodaje se llevará a cabo en el bosque del Desierto de los Leones (Ciudad de México) entre el 15 y el 30 de agosto.

EN QUE ETAPA SE ENCUENTRA EL PROYECTO
Estamos en preproducción a todo lo que da para estar más que listos el día del rodaje.  Tenemos:  actores seleccionados, pruebas de cámara, locaciones definidas, maquetas de arte, pruebas de vestuario y maquillaje, un taxidermista haciendo la máscara del lobo, maquetas de música y un excelente crew muy entusiasmado para comenzar a filmar.

EN QUE SE UTILIZARÁ EL DINERO RECAUDADO
Necesitamos dinero para pagar:  renta de equipo de cámara e iluminación, transporte, comida y honorarios de actores.

DESCRIPCIÓN DETALLADA DE ACTIVIDADES E INFORMACIÓN ADICIONAL
"Wolfmother and the Dawn of Man" es el resultado de más de 3 años de trabajo que comenzó con la realización de un video a finales de 2009 titulado "Another Theory of the Origin of the Universe".

Ampliando el concepto explorado en aquél, nos dimos a la tarea de desarrollar la idea para un video que, a modo de continuación,  repita varios elementos del anterior, siendo a la vez un proyecto más complejo en términos de producción.

La idea de trabajar con los elementos más esenciales del ser, de esta especie de retorno a los orígenes, de la posibilidad de ver el mundo y la realidad de otra manera, de recuperar esa capacidad de admiración y respeto por los fenómenos básicos de la vida nos llevó a pensar en las relaciones más elementales de los seres vivos y en esa tríada universal que es la del hombre, mujer e hijo.

"Another Theory of the Origin of the Universe" trata sobre la relación entre los principios masculinos y femeninos. "Wolfmother and the Dawn of Man" versa sobre la relación madre-hijo y ese primer salir al mundo. Un tercer video tratará sobre la relación entre padre e hijo y la sabiduría  y paz que llega con la vejez... Pero de este ya les platicaremos cuando llegue el momento.

Al desarrollar las ideas para "Wolfmother…" Derzu (el director) tuvo la fortuna de recibir una beca por parte del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes de México (FONCA) lo cuál ayudó a poner en marcha el proyecto y llevarlo hasta el punto en que se encuentra ahora.  Al finalizar el video, el FONCA también nos ayudará con su difusión.

Pensamos que es un proyecto muy interesante porque integramos medios y talentos de distintas disciplinas.  Por un lado, Derzu, al venir del mundo de las artes visuales, tiene un gran interés por la improvisación, el performance, la ambigüedad, el accidente y la plástica.  Y por otro lado, el equipo está conformado por actores profesionales, productores cinematográficos, fotógrafos, diseñadores industriales, músicos, sonidistas, vestuaristas, maquillistas, taxidermistas, iluminadores, etc. El video será grabado en formato digital Full HD  (Sony XDCAM Full HD) y será exhibido continuamente durante un año en diversos eventos organizados por el FONCA, enviado a diferentes festivales de video y cine experimental, así como galerías y espacios de arte.

PROJECT
"Wolfmother and the Dawn of Man" is the second part in a trilogy of videos about the loss of myth-making in the modern world and of ritual as part of the development of the being. It is an exploration of mother-child relationships, men and women, the primary fears and rituals of initiation to manhood, approached from multiple views such as maternity, the object of desire, terror, the unknown, the forbidden and the natural cycle of life: To survive and become complete beings, children need to consume and integrate their parents into their own.

SYNOPSIS
In a clearing in a forest, a child builds a labyrinth in which he gets enclosed with a monster who turns out to be his own mother, and the meeting between the two in which the child discovers the truth about time, life, sex, death and the transgression of moral boundaries that lead him to eventually become a man.

FILMING INFORMATION
Filming will take place in the forest of Desierto de los Leones (Mexico City) between August 15 to 30.

STAGE OF PRODUCTION
We are in full preproduction, finishing the last details to be more than ready for the filming. We have: selected actors, camera tests, defined locations, models of art, costume and makeup tests, a taxidermist working in the wolf mask, tests of music and a very enthusiastic crew eager to begin filming.

HOW ARE WE GOING TO SPEND THE COLLECTED MONEY
We need money to pay: rent of camera equipment and lighting, transportation, food and fees for the actors.

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
"Wolfmother and the Dawn of Man" is the result of more than 3 years of work that began with the realization of a video in late 2009 entitled "Another Theory of the Origin of the Universe."

Expanding the concept explored in that video, we took on the task of developing the idea for another one, that, serving as a kind of sequel, would repeat several elements of the former, while becoming a more complex project in terms of production.

The idea of ​​working with the most essential elements of the being, of this kind of return to the origins and the possibility of seeing the world and reality in a different way, of recovering the capacity for admiration and respect for the basic phenomena of life led us to think about the most elementary kind of relationships and in this universal triad of man, woman and child.

"Another Theory of the Origin of the Universe" is about the encounter between male and female principles. "Wolfmother and the Dawn of Man" is about mother-child relationship and those first steps into the world. A third video will be about the relationship between father and son and the wisdom and peace that comes with aging ... But we will talk about this when the time comes.

While developing ideas for "Wolfmother ..." Derzu (the director) had the fortune to receive a grant from the National Fund for Culture and Arts of Mexico (FONCA) which helped us launch the project and take it to the point where it is now. FONCA will also help with its distribution once its finished.

We think that its a very interesting project because we ´ll be able to integrate different disciplines and talents. Derzu, coming from the world of visual arts, has a great interest in improvisation, performance, ambiguity, the "accident" and form. The team, on the other hand, consists of professional actors, film producers, photographers, industrial designers, musicians, sound engineers, costume designers, makeup artists, taxidermists, lighting proffesionals, etc.. The video will be recorded in Full HD digital format (Sony XDCAM Full HD) and will be continuously shown for a year at various events organized by FONCA, while also being sent to several video and experimental film festivals as well as galleries and art spaces.
