EN EL AÑO 2006...
Stanislaw Lem es uno de los mejores escritores de ciencia-ficción del mundo. Somos fans de su obra y siempre habíamos pensado en adaptar uno de sus cuentos a un corto de animación. Elegimos uno de los Viajes de sus "Diarios Estelares", el Séptimo, protagonizado por el famoso y testarudo cosmonauta inventado por Lem, Ijon Tichy, que, perdido en el espacio, decide hacer copias de sí mismo usando una serie de agujeros de gusano espaciales de modo que sus copias le echen una mano para arreglar su nave averiada…
En su día enviamos a Lem los diseños y bocetos, así como el guión del corto. Se quedó encantado y nos dio luz verde, así que nos pusimos a trabajar. Pero, tristemente, el autor falleció cuando apenas llevábamos unas semanas trabajando.
Aquella noticia devastadora paralizó el proyecto y tuvimos que retornar los derechos a sus herederos, pero cuatro años más tarde decidimos retomar el corto como homenaje al estilo único de Lem, y aquí estamos, en 2012, con el corto que sólo le falta un empujoncito para poder terminarlo. Lo hemos hecho en ratos libres del trabajo, en fines de semana, arañando dinero aquí y allá durante estos meses… Y tenemos el 50% acabado.
LOS CORTOS ANTERIORES
Un anterior corto animado de nuestro director, Elio Quiroga (y que fue realizado por el mismo equipo humano), estaba basado en un relato de Stephen King, "Home Delivery" y llegó a llevarse varios premios en festivales.
Nuestro siguiente corto animado, el anterior a este, "Me Llamo María" fue Preseleccionado a los Oscars de 2011. ¡Así que paso a paso hemos ido mejorando!
LA ULTIMA FASE
Si conseguimos con vuestra ayuda financiar esta fase final podremos terminar el corto, quedándonos sólo la postproducción, que financiamos nosotros.
LAS APORTACIONES
Hay de todo tipo de aportaciones, desde 8 Euros hasta 1.100, con obsequios como DVDs, el libro de la historia de la producción del corto, el making of, incluso originales numerados de animación y figuras en resina de nuestro protagonista y su nave espacial... Ya hemos conseguido 1.500 Euros. Nuestro objetivo es cubrir los 12.000 que cuesta el proceso en 40 días. Si no lo conseguimos, no se os cobrará nada a ninguno. Sólo ocurrirá si logramos la cantidad máxima.

BACK IN 2006...
Stanislaw Lem is one of the best science fiction writers of the world.
We loved his work and we decided to adapt one of his tales to an animated short movie from his vast tale collection STAR DIARIES, a mixture of comedy, fantasy and space opera! We chose STAR DIARIES: 7th VOYAGE, a story starred by Lem's famous cosmonaut, Ijon Tichy, who decides to copy himself using a series of cosmic wormholes to find a hand to fix his own ship... with catastrophic consequences.
We sent Mr. Lem the designs, concepts and script for the movie. And he loved them. He approved the adaptation and gave us the rights, but sadly passed away a couple of weeks later.
The sad event devastated us, but after 3 years, we decided to finish the short film as a homage to Lem's unique genious and vast talent. So in 2011 we started again, and slowly, slowly...
We are an animation studio in Spain, and we work on commercials for a living, so... we have to work in free times. Nights, weekends... and we work in the old-fashioned Disney way: paper, pencil, line test... with the backgrounds made in CGI to move our camera freely.
We've finished a 50% of the short. But now the work has stopped due to lack of funds. The Lem Family has given us an extra lapse of time for the production, so we have a deadline: to finish the short film in no more than 5 months.
Part of the animation is finished. The backgrounds are practically done too. We need an extra effort in nights, weekends, and all the freetime we have to make real this little story of sci-fi comedy written by one of the best writers of the planet!
