ESPAÇO MESTIÇO

ESPAÇO MESTIÇO is a concept for a group residency space that proposes creation from decontextualization.

12 artists gather in a space that is unusual for all of them in order to research their own work. Each of them are time-based artists: choreographers, dancers, musicians from Europe and Brazil...The work will be always in contrast with the work of the others, the space and the inhabitants in order to get new imputs and outputs, inspiration tools and to open the work to people from the beginning.

The artist must ask to the others for help in order to investigate their interest at the same time that they help in other's projects.

The inhabitants will question the researches while they are being developed. The residency takes space in a place decentralised from the typical known artistic areas from Brazil, as Sao Paulo and Rio. It is a place where art is strongly represented by the folklore of the region.

For this first edition we chose to place the project in Praia do Frances, Alagoas, Brazil.

We have the accommodation, the rehearsal spaces and one person making the communication between us and the city hall of the beach. The money that we ask here is to cover the expenses for:

-food

-rent of equipment (sound equipment, instruments...)

-help for the transportation inside Brazil

The project will happen from the 13th October until the 27th. We will be able to start providing the rewards after the closure of the project. The reason is that the project takes space in a place where means of communication are rather complicated.

For this reason we will be able to send the rewards from the middle of November.
