"Los tontos y los estúpidos"

And… are you silly or stupid?

The story of “Los tontos y los estúpidos” began with the intention of a traditional shoot, with locations, a big cast and a big production design, but reality struck and the cuts affected the budget.

We got the support of the European program Media, the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Cultural department of the Basque Government to develop the project and we arrived to the final stage of selection for ARTE television production program.

But when we couldn't reach the total budget and after almost giving up, we decided not to give up our plan of telling this story and so decided that we could tell the story but in a different and more experimental way.

Where there wasn’t enough money, the artistical and technical team have decided to support the project. The contribution that we are all going to give is our work, our enthusiasm for the project and the desire to show that, although it sounds cliché, unity is strength. So it's a fact, within a month we will get into a studio to film this story.

What will we use the money for?

The money we get will be used for travel expenses, accommodation and meals of the crew and for atrezzo and costumes.

Schedule

The shooting will be done in May.

The rewards will be given from October 2013.

We will make 3 special screenings for all those that decided to support the project economically (from 10 euros).

The rest of the rewards will be given at later dates.

The director

Director and scriptwriter of “Los tontos y los estúpidos”.

In 2009 directed ANDER, a feature film that travelled to festivals around the world, and won more than 30 international prizes (like Cicae in Berlinale) and had commercial release in France, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Israel, Taiwan.... but unfortunately did not get released in Spain.

He is now is trying to shoot his second film, "Los tontos y los estupidos", and allow everyone that enjoyed the first film, to take part in the production of the second film.

With the support of great Spanish professionals from the movie industry, actors, producers, technicians, and with a really low budget, we ask for your help to make this film come true!

Storyline

A group of movie professionals go into a studio to, over a single day, read / test / count / live the story of "Los tontos y lo estúpidos".

Sitting around a table and following the directions of the director (played by Roberto Álamo ** **), the actors show us the evolution of the creating process and how the characters through the trials, indications, lighting or props, that at first were just a story captured on a script becomes a film, in cinema, the great optical illusion, the visual lies that allows us to enjoy the stories we see on the screen.

Mario (Josean Bengoetxea), Paula (Cuca Escribano) Miguel (Aitor Beltrán) and Lourdes (Nausicaa Bonin) pretend, represent, appear, hide their flaws and shortcomings, deceive and delude themselves.

So, for everything to change but to be the same in the end. Others, on the way, will get tired of so many lies and acting and bet their happiness on one card. Because it’s not the same thing to be dumb than to be stupid.
